Oh Wow! So many fun free family outings this weekend.  Where do we start?  A little Shakespeare?  Maybe make a Mother’s Day gift for grandma? Or how about some outside time with the family – fishing?  You can also download free tickets to see a sequel to the Wizard of Oz.   Or, Hey it’s May already — attend the May Day Parade with In the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre!

“The choice of this production was born out of conversations about the tornado that hit North Minneapolis two years ago and how it affected us individually and our community as a whole. These conversations included how we respond ‘when our lives are blown around.’” – Artistic Director Kevin D. West

The Tempest
Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway, Minneapolis, MN 55411
Friday, May 2, 2014; 7:00 p.m.

The Capri After School Theatre is winding up their short run of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” with its last performance on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.  The really great thing about this production is that it is performed by students in modern English.  It’s a great way to introduce your kids to Shakespeare without having to whisper translations to them through the whole thing.  The story is also abridged – making it a little easier for little ones to sit through.

When I get home I spend my time with my four kids, 10, 6, 4 and 1. My amazing husband is both a full-time musician and full-time stay-at-home dad. Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
