Offers a family-friendly swimming beach along with a volleyball court, a picnic area, an accessible playground, and a 5 1/2 mile bike trail. This park has hosted a family campout in years past.

A splash pad and MADISON’S PLACE PLAYGROUND combine to create one of the most popular playgrounds in the metro. Madison’s Place is an all-inclusive playground with sun-shaded play decks, swings, sensory play equipment and ramps for wheelchair access.

The RH STAFFORD LIBRARY is a branch of the Washington County Library system and is located in lovely indoor Central Park. (Tip: if you need some AC this summer, combine a trip to the library with a run around LOOKOUT RIDGE INDOOR PLAYGROUND, also calling Central Park home.) Bring your bucket to collect eggs hidden around the playground then participate in a spring craft and take photos with the spring bunny. Best for ages 1-6 with an adult. Outdoor ice skating rinks in Woodbury 

The city of Woodbury maintains free public outdoor ice skating rinks at five parks including COLBY LAKE PARK, KARGEL PARK, OJIBWAY PARK, SHAWNEE PARK and a refrigerated outdoor ice rink at HEALTHEAST SPORTS CENTER. The refrigerated rink is for pleasure skating only, no hockey sticks or pucks allowed. Weather permitting, it opens early December.

Looking for an indoor skating option? The  HEALTHEAST SPORTS CENTER also offers year-round ice skating (fees apply).

The best sledding hills in Woodbury

EAGLE VALLEY GOLF COURSE: The golf course’s 225 acres are used for sledding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter!

VALLEY CREEK PARK: One of the top 10 requested features for this new park was a sledding hill. Woodbury plans to complete park construction by December 2021.  Watch for a sledding hill for the winter of 2021/2022.

Woodbury Central Park & Lookout Ridge Indoor Playground

WOODBURY CENTRAL PARK is a landscaped, climate-controlled indoor public park that houses  LOOKOUT RIDGE INDOOR PLAYGROUND, the R.N. Stafford branch of the Washington County Library, a branch of the YMCA and an ECFE center. There is also a city-owned café located next to the library. The park hosts free community programs, music, and movies throughout the year. Lookout Ridge is one of the featured indoor playgrounds in our Twin Cities Indoor Playgrounds and Play Areas Guide. The play equipment and climbing structure is themed to look like the St Croix River Valley with lookalike limestone caves and giant tree trunks. You can climb to the treetops and then make your way to the bottom on a number of zippy slides. Preschoolers and toddlers have their own spaces to bounce, climb, slide and explore a maze of tunnels and caves if they are not yet ready to scale the treehouse. $5.50/child.

M HEALTH FAIRVIEW SPORTS CENTER is a multi-use destination with indoor and outdoor facilities. Amenities include a 90,000-square-foot indoor field house, two indoor ice arenas, an outdoor ice skating rink, outdoor athletic fields, a colorful splash pad, and MADISON’S PLACE PLAYGROUND, the Twin Cities East Metro’s first completely handicapped accessible inclusive playground.

CARVER LAKE PARK is one of Woodbury’s finest, with family-friendly amenities that include a swimming beach and volleyball court, a picnic area, two playgrounds, and a bike trail. The trail is popular challenge for off-road bikers. There is also a bike park for kids to work on biking skills. The beach is large, sandy and clean. This is the kind of park you can make a day of it at!

MERRILL ARTS CENTER in Woodbury is an all-volunteer theater that offers family-friendly shows and acting, piano, voice, and dance classes as well as summer camps for kids. Merrill produces several family-friendly shows a year, which we list on our performing arts calendar. Among the family-friendly offerings there is usually a Christmas show each year.
