Twin Cities Fall Festivals – Family Calendar

Get ready for a bumper crop of Twin Cities Fall Festivals! Find these fun family events near the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area all through the fall.


September Weekends, 2021: Minnesota Renaissance Festival | Shakopee

Explore the Fairy Wing Forest and Mermaid Cove, take in a maypole dance, craft a wand or pirate hat, learn to juggle and much more. Open weekends 9am-7pm. $12.50+.

September – October, 2021: Scarecrow Festival | Emma Krumbees, Belle Plaine

Scarecrow displays, rides, food, weekend entertainment, tractor-pulled wagons to the orchard and pumpkin patch. Admission is $6.50/pp.

September 4-6, 2021: Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes | Maple Grove

Chalkfest Family Zone is set aside for families to create together, plus games, music and food.

September 7-11, 2021: Burnsville Fire Muster

Medallion Hunt starts Tuesday, City block party Wednesday evening, car show Thursday, Festival Friday & Saturday. Don’t miss the fire truck demonstrations, annual community and fire truck parade and fireworks on Saturday. FREE. 

September 8-12, 2021: Inver Grove Heights Days

Community Family Fun Night, kids treasure hunt, grand parade and fireworks. FREE admission. $3 Button required for many events, including Family Fun Night and Kids Treasure Hunt. 

September 10-11, 2021: Oktoberfest | GAI, St. Paul

Two days of music, food and German culture. FREE

September 10-12, 2021: James J. Hill Days | Lake Street, Downtown Wayzata

Carnival, logrolling, parade, and fireworks. FREE. 

September 10-12, 2021: CountryFest | St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Oak Grove

Entertainment, kids games (Saturday 2-5pm) and food. Youth block party Friday evening. FREE. 

September 10-October 31, 2021: Sever’s Fall Festival | Shakopee

A full lineup of fun – obstacle course, corn maze, petting zoo, magic shows, zip line, playground and jumping pillow; additional activities extra. Open Fri-Sun & MEA Weekend, $17/pp.

September 11, 2021: Open Streets West Broadway | Minneapolis

A portion of West Broadway will be closed to traffic and open to people to explore their community. 11am-5pm. 

September 11, 2021: St. Louis Park Art Fair | The ROC, St. Louis Park 

Shop local art, enjoy food trucks, entertainment, demos, and community art projects.  Free.

September 11, 2021: Minneapolis Monarch Festival | Lake Nokomis, 49th & Woodlawn

Art-making activities, guided nature walks, music & monarch exhibits. 10am-4pm, FREE. 

September 11, 2021: Mac-Grove Fest | Edgcumbe Rec Center, St. Paul

Music and dance, food trucks, arts & crafts, and more. 11am-4pm. FREE.

September 11, 2021: Blaine World Fest | Tom Ryan Park, Blaine

Cultural learning booths, and ethnic food vendors and food trucks. 1-4pm. FREE.

September 11, 2021: Fulton Fall Festival | Pershing Park, Minneapolis

A bike parade, inflatables, carnival games and a petting zoo. 11am-3pm, FREE. 

September 11-12, 2021: Edina Fall into the Arts Festival | Centennial Lakes Park, Edina

A nice excuse to enjoy the outdoors while the weather is still nice while viewing works by local and regional artists. FREE. 

September 11-12, 2021: Grape Stomp Festival | St. Croix Vineyards

Grape stomping competitions for both children and adults, live music and tours. FREE. 

September 11-25, 2021: Eagan Art Block | Eagan

Kid and family-friendly activities, over 30 events in the 15 days. FREE. 

September 17-18, 2021: Bayport Derby Days | Lakeside Park, Bayport

Duck Derby, community kickball, kid-friendly activities, bonfire and ice cream social, fireworks over the St. Croix River. 

September 18, 2021: Otsego Prairie Festival | Prairie Park, Otsego

Catch firetruck displays, a carnival and fireworks at dusk. 10am-dusk, FREE.

September 18, 2021: Nickle Dickle Day | Waconia

Kid Zone, duck races, live music, library sale. FREE. 

September 18, 2021Linden Hills Festival | Linden Hills Park, Minneapolis

Live music, food vendors and fun. FREE.

September 18, 2021: Fiesta Latina | CLUES St Paul

Usually held in August, this family-friendly community festival celebrating Latin culture through arts, health & wellness, fitness, food and entertainment conveniently falls the first weekend of Hispanic Heritage Month in 2021.

September 18, 2021: Wild Rice Festival | Harriet Alexander Nature Center, Roseville

Games for all, activities with Gibbs Farm, Native American dancing and drumming, hands-on demos and much more. 10am-4pm, FREE admission.

Family activities 9:30-12:30pm, parade at 10:30. FREE. 

September 18, 2021: Minnesota Children’s Book Festival | Anderson Center, Red Wing

One of Family Fun Twin Cities favorite annual events! Meet local children’s book authors, hear them read from their books and purchase a signed copy. There are also games, activities and art projects and it is always a beautiful drive.

September 18, 2021: Delano Oktoberfest | Delano

FREE kinderspiel (kids play) area featuring bounce houses, games of skill & excitement with Oktoberfest prizes. $5/adult. 

September 18, 2021: White Bear Township Day | White Bear Township

Family-friendly activities, music, vendors, car show and fireworks to end the night. 

September 18, 2021: Fall Festival | Holz Farm, Eagan

Old fashioned fun farm includes pedal tractors, kids coin hunt, animals in the barn, fun farm chores & more. 11am-4pm, $3/admission. (Pre-Registration Required)

September 18-19, 2021. Art & Apples on the Lake | Downtown Excelsior

Get creative in the Kids Art Tent. Listen to local music and try out regional food vendors. Tots will love the Happy Apple Kids Corner, parents may like the artisan vendors, music and street dance. 9am-10pm, FREE.

September 18-19, 2021: Lakeville Art Festival 

70+ exhibitors and a “Young at Art” tent for youth. 10am-5pm, FREE admission. 

Sept 18 & 25, 2021: Rockpoint Church Corn Trail

Downsized to a corn trail (instead of maze) and wagon rides this year, but still free and fun. 11am-4pm.

September 18-31, 2021: Twin Cities Harvest Festival & Maze | Brooklyn Park

This destination festival includes a mega corn maze (and a mini one for kids!), corn pit, petting zoo and hayrides. Additional activities available for an extra fee. Open weekends 10am-6pm, $7-$11/pp.

September 19, 2021: Twin Cities Veg Fest | Harriet Island, St Paul

Sample the offerings at the Midwest’s biggest plant-based festival. 11am-5pm. FREE admission. 

September 21, 2021: East Harriet Fall Fest | Minneapolis

Kids activities and face painting, music, free massages. 11am-4pm, FREE. 

September 25, 2021: St. Louis Park Roctoberfest

Rock and polka music, food, beverages, beer and games/challenges for all ages and prizes. 5-9pm, $5/pp.

September 25, 2021: Gale Woods Farm Fall Festival | Minnetrista

Sheepdog shows, llamas, textile crafts, meet farm animals & tour the gardens. $5/pp. 

September 25, 2021: Fall Raptor Release | Carpenter Nature Center, Hastings

The Raptor Center releases rehabbed birds at 11am & 2pm plus wagon rides, kids activities and educational displays. 10am-3pm, FREE admission. CANCELLED FOR 2021 – VIRTUAL EVENT ONLY.

September 25, 2021: Gibbs FArm Apple Festival | Falcon Heights

All things apple! Treats, games, crafts, a tour through the orchard, and all food included. 10am-4pm, $5-$8/pp.


September 25-26, 2021: Pond Dakota River Rendezvous

Experience the life of Minnesotans between 1800 and 1870 through story-telling, games and interactive demos. The Pond House is located in Bloomington. 10am-5pm, $10/adults, $5/children.

September 25-26, 2021: Afton Art in the Park | Town Square Park

Art vendors and free art pavilion for kids with fall crafts and spin art. 10am-5pm Saturday & 11am-4pm Sunday, FREE admission.

Visit the shopping district for food samplings, free fitness activities, music, games and more. 1-5pm, FREE. (Sept 27, 2020)

Art on the Strip | Bass Lake Road and Sherburne Ave N, Crystal

Oct 2, 2021: Oktoberfest at Midtown Global Market

Pop-up German entertainment (music & food) and kids activities (balloon artist, storyteller & crafts). 12-4pm, FREE.

Oct 2, 2021: KidX Flannel Fest | Maplewood Mall

Paint a mini pumpkin and play some fall-themed games. Wear your favorite flannel if you’d like. 1-3pm, FREE.

October 2-3, 2021: Minnesota Renaissance Festival | Shakopee

Join in harvest time, farm chores and other demonstrations, and house tours. 12-3pm, $20/family.

October 9-10, 2021: Carpenter Nature Center Apple Fest | Hastings

Fall fun activities include pick-your-own apples, cider demos, live music & animals and kids activities. 10am-5pm, FREE.

October 9-10, 2021: Stillwater Harvest Fest 

Kids activities all day both days, plus don’t miss the pumpkin regatta & giant pumpkin drop. 10am-6pm, FREE.

October 10, 2021: Open Streets Lyndale | Minneapolis

Lyndale Avenue will close to street traffic so people can explore and their community in person. 11am-5pm.

October 16, 2021: Wargo Fall Festival | Lino Lakes

Play pioneer games, try cider pressing and take nature walks. 2-4pm, FREE.

October 16: Caponi Art Park Leaf Fest

October 24, 2021: Open Streets Minnehaha | Minneapolis

Minnehaha Avenue South will close to street traffic so people can explore and their community in person. 11am-5pm.

October Festivals We Hope to Return in 2022

Family Fun Saturdays | Barten Pumpkins, New Prague

This event is not happening in 2021 but families can still stop by the pumpkin patch for entertainment on select weekends such as live bands and antique farm equipment displays.

Harvest Fest | Frogtown Farm Park, St Paul

Other events taking place at Frogtown Farm this fall include Theater at the Farm and Pizza on the Farm. See the website for more details.

Fall Into Winter Fair | Afton Alps, Hastings

Family entertainment at Afton’s annual Ski & Snowboard Swap includes chairlift rides, inflatables, live music, movies and more. FREE admission.

A community neighborhood festival. (Sept 18-19, 2020)

Bloomington Heritage Days | Nativity of Mary Catholic Church grounds

Live music and performing arts, parade. FREE admission. 

Open Streets Nicollet | Minneapolis. 

In the meantime, three Open Streets dates will go forward in 2021 – West Broadway on 9/11, Lyndale on 10/10 and Minnehaha on 10/24.
