Twin Cities March Family Festivals

Mar 14, 2021: St. Patrick’s Day Irish Celebrations | Landmark Center, St Paul

Again in 2021, the traditional Irish Celebration and Irish Day of Dance at Landmark Center can be enjoyed virtually on Landmark’s web page.

Mar 17, 2021: St. Paul’s Irish MASK-arade | 425 Rice St, St Paul

Families can mask up and drive through to see all their favorite parade performers in a reverse parade. Noon-3pm. Free, registration required.

Mar 20, 2021: Minneapolis’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade | Columbia Heights

In this drive-thru twist, participants can deck out their own cars and parade past Irish royalty, dancers and bagpipe players. 1-3pm, FREE to enter but must submit an application.

April 9-25, 2021: Spring Babies | Twin Cities Festival, Brooklyn Park

New for 2021, there will be NO cover charge to enter the farm babies festival. Instead, there will be a small fee for each activity you choose to do. A wristband to see and hold the baby animals will include the kids play area (corn pit, bale maze, playground equipment, pedal tractors) and a hayride.

April 17-23, 2021: Family Earth Day Celebration | Wargo Nature Center, Lino Lakes

Service project, trivia picnic, gardening seminar and online lunch with a naturalist, earth day sing-a-long and bingo challenge. Registration required.

April 24, 2021:  Earth Day Celebration | Harriet Alexander Nature Center, Roseville

Celebrate the nature center’s 31st birthday with a fully outdoor program. 10am-2pm.

April 24-25, 2021: Earth Day Youth Birding Competition | Carpenter Nature Center, Hastings

In lieu of a festival this year, kids can participate in a two-day birding competition. Learn more here.

Minneapolis Arbor Day Festival | Theodore Wirth Regional Park

Twin Cities May Family Festivals

May 1, 2021: Arbor Day Walk & Green Fair | Staring Lake & Round Lake Parks, Eden Prairie

Pick up a map at one or both parks to take a self-guided walk that showcases various tree species around the lakes. Participants will also receive seed packets to take home and plant. 9-11am, FREE.

May 14-16, 2021: Virtual Art-A-Whirl | Northeast Minneapolis

While most events will be virtual again in 2021, some individual artists and gallieries will have in-person hours. Fine a map here. FREE.

May 16, 2021: Holz Farm Spring Festival | Holz Farm Park, Eagan

Old-fashioned farm activities. 3 Time Options: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 12:45 -2:15 p.m., 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. $3/pp, advanced tickets required.

May 17-23, 2021: Art Start’s EcoArts FestMinnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge

Virtual art &  nature classes for families; guided trail hikes, art-making stations, pop-up puppet shows & stilt walkers. More information TBA.

May 22, 2021: Spring on the Farm | Eidem Homestead, Brooklyn Park

Each tour will be 45-minutes; families units can take a walking tour of the site while seeing period demonstrations and take home a planting activity kit. 10am-1pm, $20/family.

May 22, 2021: Hopkins Mainstreet Day | Hopkins

Arts and Craft Fair. 9am-4pm, FREE admission.

May 31, 2021: Memorial Day Virtually with Lakewood Cemetery | Minneapolis

Live music, create custom postcards, Learn to fold origami doves. 10am-2pm, FREE.

May Festivals Not Yet Announced or Cancelled

MayDay Parade & Festival | Powderhorn Park, Minneapolis

MayDay will not be returning as a parade and festival in 2021.  The new MayDay council may have some other “decentralized” events and activities throughout 2021, and we hope to see it back in 2022. Learn more here.

Festival of Nations | RiverCenter, St Paul

Authentic performances, cuisine, demos & exhibits from 40 different cultures. $8-$11/pp in advance, under 6 FREE. Cancelled for 2021.

Cinco de Mayo | West Side neighborhood of St Paul

A full day of events celebrating the vibrant and diverse District del Sol neighborhood. 9am-6pm, FREE. Cancelled for 2021.

Immigrant for a DayGammelgarden Museum, Scandia

1850’s immigrant family activities and tours. 1-4pm, FREE admission. Gammelgarden is currently closed until further notice.

  3. Fyi. The web site for the Blaine activity on the 20th says they are no longer doing the $7 punch cards.
