Richfield summer recreation programs
Richfield offers a variety of recreation programs, including dance classes, summer playground programs, tennis lessons, environmental education, and day camps through Wood Lake Nature Center. Skating lessons are also available at the Ice Arena. Richfield continually introduces new events and programs to engage the community. Residents are encouraged to check the city’s Parks and Recreation website regularly for the latest offerings.
Richfield Summer Playgrounds
Free supervised activities for kids ages 6-12 at two Richfield parks. One-week sessions, four days per session. Registration is required, and kids are limited to three weeks of the camp due to high demand. Mon-Thurs starting mid-June.
Richfield Park & Play
Seven Richfield parks host special activities such as storybook hikes, a pop up splash pad with the fire department, live animal encounters and more. See link for complete schedule. Select Fridays & Saturdays starting mid-June. FREE.

Yes, it’s about that time to start planning summer camp opportunities for your kids! Wood Lake Nature Center Summer Camps

Most nature camps at Wood Lake Nature Center are 3 days, with a couple week-long sessions for older grade school kids. Camps are designed for kids in preschool-grade 6. Sessions $45-$175.

Richfield’s Holiday Lights Contest invites area residents to showcase their festive decorations during the holiday season. It’s a wonderful way to spread cheer and enjoy the community’s creativity. Community members can nominate the addresses of their favorite displays. Find a map here.

The annual Richfield Holiday Lights Parade features festively-lit vehicles, music, and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus.Â

Richfield outdoor ice rinks
Richfield maintains several outdoor ice rinks with warming houses during the winter season. These rinks offer opportunities for ice skating, hockey, and broomball. The Richfield Winter Farmers Market operates on Saturdays, offering the same high quality seasonal produce and goods just indoors during the winter. Saturdays starting mid-November, 11am-3pm.

Wheel Fun Rentals Mini Golf & Malt Shop

Wheel Fun Rentals in Richfield offers an 18-hole miniature golf course surrounded by beautiful gardens, waterfalls, and streams. Ten holes are accessible to individuals with mobility impairments. After a game, visitors can enjoy ice cream and other treats at the malt shop.

Richfield Farmers Market is celebrating its 36th year in 2025 and operates on Saturday mornings from May 3rd through October 25th. The market features local vendors offering fresh produce and goods within 85 miles of Richfield. The Richfield Farmers Market provides access to local, healthy, and affordable foods, and a community gathering space to help connect residents, as well as local
producers.
Richfield Ice Arena

The Richfield Ice Arena, built in 1971, has a rich regional history of serving the metro area and hosting world-class talent. The Arena has two regulation sheets of ice, open year-round. The arena is located five minutes from the Mall of America in Veterans Memorial Park.
- Richfield Skate School – Richfield Ice Arena offers skate lessons for ages 3 to adult. Seasons are usually typically eight weeks of 30-minute lessons on Saturday mornings. Helmets, gloves, and jackets recommended for ages 7 and younger. Discounted skate rental offered. Augsburg Adventure Park

AUGSBURG ADVENTURE PARK is Richfield’s premiere outdoor playground! Sporting an inclusive design, the park includes fun features like a zip line, swings and spinners, musical instruments, adventure and nature zones. The park also has walking trails and a skatepark and is a short, walkable distance from the Richfield branch of Hennepin County Library and the Richfield Community Center.Â
Wood Lake Nature Center

The City of Richfield’s Wood Lake Nature Center is a 150-acre natural area dedicated to environmental education, wildlife observation, and outdoor recreation. Three miles of trails and boardwalks wind through the park. The trails are either blacktop or crushed limestone and most are wheelchair accessible during summer months. To preserve the natural habitat, pets, bikes, and smoking are not allowed. The nature center often offers inexpensive family programming each month so you’ll want to check out their brochure.Â
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE! The Wood Lake Nature Center building is currently under construction to re-open in mid-to-late 2026. The park and grounds remain open during the build.
