Twin Cities-area apple orchards have already begun throwing their doors open to usher in the picking season! Find an old favorite or a new destination to spend a fall day from our Guide below.

Apple Jack Orchards | Delano
Open: Aug 21-Oct, 2017
Hours: August, Mon-Sat 10am-5pm; Sept-Oct, daily 10am-6pm
Cost: Free admission, fees for additional activities
Picking: PYO apples, fall raspberries and pumpkins
More activities: This orchard has it all – a free play area, animals, pony rides, train rides, wagon rides, a cafe and market, live music and other fall weekend activities and more. There is a small fee for most activities.

Apple Tree-O | Delano
Open/Hours: Labor Day 2017, then fall weekends, hours TBD
Cost: Free admission
Picking: PYO apples & pumpkins

Deardorff Orchards & Vineyard | Waconia
Open: Aug 19-Oct, 2017
Hours: Orchard, Tues-Sun, 10am-6pm & Winery Tasting Room, Winery hours.  Friday 12-6, Saturday 11-6, Sunday 12-6
Cost: Free admission, free family activities
Picking & details: Take a tractor wagon ride out to pick-your-own apples, let the kids burn off energy in their own place space with hay bales and farm animals, stock up on goodies in the Apple Barn, and stop in at the Parley Lake Winery Tasting Room! Food is available onsite for purchase. Come out for Apple Pickin’ Days Aug 26-27, 2017, for live music, scarecrow-making and other activities.

Open: Aug 24-Oct 29, 2017
Hours: Thurs-Sun, 10am-6pm & Labor Day
Cost: Free admission,
Picking: PYO apples & pumpkins
More activities: Many children’s activities, including animals to visit, handle and feed, a free play area and corn boxes. There is a small fee for additional activities such as the wagon and train rides and the corn maze.

LuceLine Orchard | Watertown
Open: Sept 2-Oct, 2017
Weekends, 10am-4pm
Cost: Free admission, some fees for additional activities
More activities: Including weekend hayrides, a corn maze, hay mountain, a train ride and farm animals.

Minnetonka Orchards | Minnetrista
Open: Aug 26-Oct, 2017
Hours: Daily, 10am-7pm
Cost: Free admission, small fee for hayrides
Picking & details: Minnetonka Orchards has grown into a beautiful fall destination. Come out for a day of pick-your-own apples, hayrides, train rides for the kids, corn crib slides, Owen’s Barnyard and face painting. Whatever you do, our kids would tell you not to miss the apple donuts!

Aamodt’s Apple Farm | Stillwater

Picking: PYO apples
More activities: For a small fee, kids can ride the Honeycrisp Express or take a wagon ride. Free activities include a weekday-only treasure hunt and visiting the goat farm. John Deere trikes are free during the month of August only.

Pine Tree Apple Orchard | White Bear Lake
Open: Salesroom open Aug 18-March, 2018; fall activities through Oct 2017

Cost: Free admission, additional fees for activities
Picking: Pre-picked apples only among other offerings
More activities: Weekends bring scenic hayrides, a corn maze and pony rides, all with a small fee attached.

Afton Apple Orchard | Hastings

Hours: Daily, 10am-6pm
Cost: Admission is $5/pp ages 5+, $4/pp under 5, includes orchard activities
Picking: PYO apples, fall raspberries & pumpkins
More activities: The admission fee covers kiddie train rides, hayrides into the orchard, the huge playground, a petting zoo & jumping pillow. The 2017 corn maze is open Sept 16-Oct 29 and requires a separate admission fee of $7-$9/pp.

Applewood Orchard | Lakeville

Hours: Daily, 10am-6pm
Cost: Free admission, limited free kids activities, additional fees for activities
Picking: PYO apples

Carpenter St Croix Valley Nature Center Orchard | Hastings
Open: Daily, 8am-4:30pm (nature center hours)

Picking: Pre-picked apples only

Emma Krumbee’s Orchard & Farm | Belle Plaine
Open: Mid-August through Oct, 2017
Hours: Daily, 9am-7pm; Scarecrow Festival open daily Sept 9-Oct 29, 2017, 10am-6pm
Cost: Admission to the Scarecrow Festival is $5.50/pp+tax and includes activities like the giant haystack climb, farm animals to pet, train rides, the corn pit, all-terrain trikes and more.
Picking: Call the crop hotline at 952-873-3006 before coming out to get the schedule for PYO apples, raspberries & pumpkins.

fischersFisher’s Croix Farm Orchard | Hastings
Open: Mid-Sept-Oct, 2017
Hours: Tues-Sun, 9:30am-5pm
Cost: Free admission, fees for additional activities
Picking & details: Enjoy the fall season at this beautiful orchard on the St. Croix River. Pick-your-own apples and pumpkins and, for more family fun, take a tractor pulled wagon ride to the corn maze (weekends only) mid-September to October. Straw Mountain and the Apple Express are popular with kids and all ages will enjoy a visit to the barnyard. The Food Wagon is open on weekends, from late September through late October. Catch the Annual Apple Festival with fun family activities running the first two weekends of October.

Sponsel’s Minnesota Harvest | Jordan
Open: Aug 19-Oct, 2017
Hours: Mon-Fri, 10am-5pm & Sat-Sun, 9am-6pm
Cost: $5 per car Sept-Oct
Picking: PYO apples

whistling well farmWhistling Well Farm | Hastings
Open: 2017 season begins around Labor Day, check their website or call to confirm.
Hours: Daily, 9am-6pm
Cost: Free admission and limited children’s activities
Picking & details: Stop by the farm and pick up some apples, visit with the goats and chickens, and make a wish at the whistling well with all donations going to local charities. The orchard’s Apple Festival runs the first three weekends in October.
