2026 Library summer reading programs

The chance to relax with a book instead of homework is a highlight of summer for my kids.  Kids in Anoka and Washington counties can pop into their local branches to sign up for their summer reading program to earn perks for keeping busy with books.

ANOKA COUNTY Summer Adventures – Game On!

Log your summer reading, write book reviews and complete other activities to earn free books and to be entered into a grand prize drawing for perks such as State Fair tickets and passes to Bunker Beach Waterpark. Runs June 1-August 15, 2026.

WASHINGTON COUNTY Summer Adventure at Your Library

Starting June 1, kids up to age 11 complete challenges on their “game card” to win free books and to be entered into the grand prize drawing. Open through August 15, 2026.

LAKE ELMO Little Explorers at Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center: Into the Woods

Sunfish Lake Park, Entry Road, Lake Elmo, MN 55042
A caregiver-child nature program designed for toddlers and preschoolers ages 1-5. Have fun exploring the outdoors and the natural world. Each month explores a different theme during the first hour and provides a social, free play time during the last half hour. June 1, 2026, 10-11:30am. $8 per person, caregiver and child.

On the first Tuesday of each month, Wargo Nature Center offers a free story time for kids ages 2+ featuring far-off lands and nature adventures. June’s theme is Water Animals. No need to register. June 2, 2026, 9-10am. FREE.

WYOMING Bike Rodeo

May is National Bike Month (wheel-y cool, right?) and many communities find it the perfect time to sponsor a bike rodeo. This weekend, the city of Wyoming is hosting a day of bike safety awareness, a skills course, free helmets (while supplies last) and a police meet-and-greet. June 5, 2026, 5-7pm. FREE.
