August Festivals and Fairs in the Twin Cities Minnesota

Kicking off with some neighborhood fetes and culminating with summer’s fair-well bash, our August family festival is sure to be fund. Admission to these festivals is FREE unless otherwise noted:

Twin Cities 2023 August Festivals:

July 30-August 5, 2023: Eden Prairie PeopleFest 

Staring Lake Park, 14800 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, MN 55347
Eden Prairie’s annual community celebration of Culture. Many drop-in events on our calendar. Some worthwhile activities require pre-registration.

August 3-13, 2023: Minnesota Fringe Festival

August 4-6, 2023: Little Canada Canadian Days

Spooner Park, 350 Eli Rd, Little Canada, MN 55117
Medallion hunt, Thursday Ice cream social, Fireworks Friday & Saturday, kids play area Friday-Sunday, Kidsdance & Raptor Center show Friday afternoon, pony rides Sunday.

August 4-6, 2023: St Anthony VillageFest

Friday evening: Parade; Saturday: inflatables & games, family entertainment, petting zoo, and Fireworks to end the evening.

August 4-6, 2023: Uptown Art Fair

Intersection of West Lake Street & Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis
Shop local art and food vendors. Older kids might enjoy a graffiti spray-and-take activity sponsored by Sprayfinger.

August 5, 2023: Hanover Harvest Festival

Tons of old-fashioned kids carnival games (for a small fee), a mobile video game truck, cow pie bingo (?), classic car show, petting zoo, garden tractor pull, fireworks and lots more. 

August 5-6, 2023: Powderhorn Art Fair 

3400 15th Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55407
Art & food at Powderhorn Park. Look for the Family Zone for activities for kids, including face painting, storytimes and entertainment.

August 5-6, 2023: Slavic Experience

West End Festival Site, 5376 Gamble Drive, Saint Louis Park
Live music, Eastern European food, vendors and artists, and free family activities.

August 5-12, 2023: St. Louis Park Summer Reading Festival 

St Louis Park, MN 55416
A free week of reading events, including local authors, music, story stroll, art and more.

August 11, 2023: Eagan Food Truck Festival

FREE admission, food available to purchase.

August 11-12, 2023: St Michael Daze & Knights Festival

Bounce in the inflatables (grab a wristband), listen to live music, hunt for the medallion, and play family Bingo.

August 11-13, 2023: New Brighton Stockyard Days

1500 Old Highway 8. New Brighton, MN 55112
Family activities in Long Lake Regional Park, a kiddie parade, petting zoo, and fireworks.

August 11-13, 2023Irish Fair of Minnesota 

Harriet Island Regional Park, 200 Dr Justus Ohage Blvd, St Paul, MN 55107
Meet Irish dogs, explore Irish instruments, take an Irish dance lesson, and craft in the Art Tent. Admission: Adults $20; Teens 13-17 $15; Kids under 13 free.

Carnival, fireworks & Grand Parade. 

August 13, 2023: Newport Pioneer Day

Pioneer Memorial Park at 611 4th Avenue, Newport MN
Parade at 11am followed by live music and entertainment.

August 14-20, 2023: Vadnais Heights Heritage Days

Community Park & Vadnais Heights Commons
Kids games, bounce house and watermelon-eating contest, kiddie parade, and the Grande Parade.

August 17, 2023: Plymouth Kids Fest

Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd, Plymouth, Minnesota 55447
Take in a classic summer carnival with inflatables, games, a petting zoo, STEM and art zones and lots more. 

August 17-20, 2023: Lino Lakes Blue Heron Days

Another chance for a classic summer parade in the Twin Cities area.

August 17-20, 2023: Chisago City Ki Chi Saga Days 

Music, craft fair and food vendors, fireworks, parade.

August 18-19, 2023: Mounds View Festival in the Park 

Parade, family fun fair, car show, music, fireworks and a splash pad party. 11am-Dusk.

August 18-20, 2023: North Hudson Pepper Fest

Rides, games, Grand Parade. $4-$5/button for events. 

August 18-20, 2023: Woodbury Days 

Kids activities, carnival, parade, fireworks. Buttons required for many events. 

August 16-18, 2024: Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Wacipi 

The SMSC invites the public to attend a free family-friendly Pow Wow that features hundreds of Native American dancers and drum groups, Native American crafts and foods, as well as fireworks.

Grande Day Parade, Kids Zone filled with games and a petting zoo, fireworks. 

August 19, 2023: Anoka Food Truck Festival

Food Truck Festival with live music (coincides with Discover Anoka Days Sidewalk Sale).

August 19, 2023: Eden Prairie Arts in the Park

Purgatory Creek Park, 13001 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, Minnesota 55344
Local craft vendors plus music and entertainment just for kids. FREE admission. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

August 19, 2023: Spelmansstämma 

Gammelgarden Museum, 20880 Olinda Trail N, Scandia, MN 55073
Fiddle fest, games, historic building tours, art fair. Free to attend.

August 19-October 1, 2023: Minnesota Renaissance Festival 

Explore the Fairy Wing Forest and Mermaid Cove, take in a maypole dance, craft a wand or pirate hat, learn to juggle and much more. Open weekends 9am-7pm. $12.50+.

August 20, 2023: Open Streets Cedar Riverside

Cedar Ave from S 3rd St to S 6th St & Riverside Ave from Cedar Ave to S 19th Ave
Streets are exclusively for the use of pedestrians and small wheels so you can explore the neighborhood businesses, visit vendors and eat.

August 20, 2023: Como Park Japanese Obon Festival

Como Zoo & Conservatory, 1225 Estabrook Dr, St Paul, MN 55103
Traditional music, dance, taiko drumming, and lantern lighting at dusk. $3-5/pp, under 3 FREE. Advanced Tickets required.

August 24, 2023: Party on the Plaza

Nicollet Commons Park, 12550 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville, MN 55337
Live entertainment and games, food trucks and vendors, plus one of the
best splash pads in the Twin Cities. 4pm-9pm.

August 24-27, 2022: Norwood Young America Stiftungsfest

Carnival, market, car show, family night, parade and music.

August 24-September 4, 2023: Minnesota State Fair
