August Family Festival Calendar

Kicking off with some neighborhood fetes and culminating with summer’s fair-well bash, August is ripe with family festivities:

8/1/18: Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival | Lake Hiawatha Park, Minneapolis | 5-8pm Family highlights: Free canoe rides, pony rides, kids games, face painting, hair painting, and Sports 5-in-1 Combination Bouncer, the wading pool will have an inflatable slide! FREE

8/2/18-8/5/18: Canadian Days | Spooner Park, Little Canada | Family highlights: Ice cream social; kids activities & kiddie parade; fireworks & the Grand Parade.

8/3/18-8/5/18: Uptown Art Fair | Minneapolis | Family highlights: Stop by the Family Imagination Station hosted by Northern Clay Center. FREE

ROAD TRIP: 8/3/18-8/12/18 (weekends): Day Out With Thomas | Duluth | Tickets:  $20/pp | Family highlights: Children take a ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, meet the railway controller Sir Topham Hatt, have fun in the Imagination Station, explore the Railroad Museum, and much more! |

8/5/18-8/13/18: New Brighton Stockyard Days | Family highlights: Family activities in Long Lake Regional Park, a kiddie parade, petting zoo, and fireworks. FREE

8/10/18-8/12/18: Irish Fair of Minnesota | Harriet Island Regional Park, St Paul | Family highlights: The Children’s Area of the Fair allows kids to meet Irish dogs, explore Irish instruments, take an Irish dance lesson, and craft  in the Art Tent. FREE

8/10/18-8/12/18: Twin Cities Polish Festival | Family highlights: Musical and dance entertainment, traditional foods, Polish fun! FREE

8/10/18-8/12/18: Rockford River Days | Family highlights: Carnival, fireworks & Grand Parade

8/11/18: Eagan Food Truck Festival | Eagan Festival Grounds | Family highlights: Music by Omission Republic and Boogie Wonderland | FREE admission, food available to purchase.

8/12/18: Pioneer Day | Pioneer Memorial Park, Newport | 11am-7pm | Family highlights: Parade (11am), live music, inflatables and a balloon artist. FREE

8/17/18-8/18/18: Victoria Volksfest | Victoria | Family highlights: Music, arts & crafts booths, and fireworks. FREE

8/17/18-8/19/18: North Hudson Pepper Fest | $2-$3/button for events | Family highlights: Rides, games, Grand Parade.

8/17/18-8/19/18: Heritage Days Festival | St Paul Park | Family highlights: Grande Day Parade, Kids Zone filled with games and a petting zoo, fireworks. FREE

8/16/18-8/19/18: Ki Chi Saga Days | Vilhelm Moberg Park, Chisago City | Family highlights: Music, craft fair and food vendors, fireworks, parade.

8/17/18-8/19/18: Blue Heron Days | Lino Lakes | Family highlights: Movie in the Park: Wonder, parade on Lake Drive, petting zoo, bounce house, family picnic, Waldoch Farm tours. FREE

8/18/18: Fiesta Latina | CLUES, St Paul | 11am-4pm | Family highlights: A family-friendly community festival celebrating Latin culture through arts, health & wellness, fitness, food and entertainment. FREE

8/18/18: IndiaFest | Minnesota State Capitol | 11am-9pm |  Family highlights: Experience India in a day, parade, live music, children’s activities. FREE

8/18/18: Mounds View Festival in the Park | City Hall Park | 11am-Dusk | Family highlights: Parade, family fun fair, fireworks. FREE

8/18/18: St. Paul Food Truck Festival | Mears Park | Noon-10 pm | Family highlights: Music, games & giveaways | FREE admission, food available to purchase.

8/18/18-8/19/18: Vadnais Heights Heritage Days | Family highlights: Children’s games, bounce house and watermelon-eating contest, kiddie parade, and the Grande Parade. FREE

8/18/18-9/30/18: Minnesota Renaissance Festival | Shakopee | Open weekends 9am-7pm | $13.50-$24.95 | Family highlights: Explore the Fairy Wing Forest and Mermaid Cove, take in a maypole dance, craft a wand or pirate hat, learn to juggle and much more.

8/19/18: Japanese Obon Festival (Lantern Festival) | Como Park Conservatory, St Paul | $3-5/pp, under 3 FREE | Family highlights: Traditional music, dance, taiko drumming, and lantern lighting at dusk.
