August Family Festival Calendar

Kicking off with some neighborhood fetes and culminating with summer’s fair-well bash, August is ripe with family festivities. Admission to these festivals is FREE unless otherwise noted:

TBA: Family Fringe
Saint Paul Family Fringe offers children and families interested in new and adventurous work the ability to see shows presented by companies creating multi-generational productions. See website for tickets. (July 26-Aug 4, 2019)

July 31-Aug 2, 2020: Canadian Days | Spooner Park, Little Canada
Ice cream social; kids activities & kiddie parade; fireworks & the Grand Parade.

ROAD TRIP: July 31-Aug 9, 2020: Day Out With Thomas | Duluth
Children take a ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, meet the railway controller Sir Topham Hatt, have fun in the Imagination Station, explore the Railroad Museum, and much more! Tickets:  $20/pp

Aug 1-2, 2020: Powderhorn Art Fair | Minneapolis
Art, Food and Powderhorn Park. 

TBA: Owamni Falling Water Festival | Father Hennepin Bluff Park, Minneapolis
This free and family-friendly event celebrates indigenous Minnesota culture with music, art & food. (Aug 3, 2019)

TBA: Victoria Volksfest | Victoria
Music, arts & crafts booths, and fireworks. (Aug 3, 2019)

Family activities in Long Lake Regional Park, a kiddie parade, petting zoo, and fireworks. (Aug 3-12, 2019)

TBA: Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival | Lake Hiawatha Park, Minneapolis
Free canoe rides, pony rides, kids games, face painting, hair painting, and Sports 5-in-1 Combination Bouncer, the wading pool will have an inflatable slide! 5-8pm. (Aug 7, 2019)

Aug 7, 2020: Eagan Food Truck Festival | Eagan Festival Grounds
Music by Omission Republic and Boogie Wonderland. FREE admission, food available to purchase.

TBA: Irish Fair of Minnesota | Harriet Island Regional Park, St Paul
The Children’s Area of the Fair allows kids to meet Irish dogs, explore Irish instruments, take an Irish dance lesson, and craft  in the Art Tent. (Aug 9-11, 2019)

TBA: Twin Cities Polish Festival | St. Anthony Main Riverfront, Minneapolis
Musical and dance entertainment, traditional foods, Polish fun. (Aug 9-11, 2019)

Carnival, fireworks & Grand Parade.

Aug 7-9, 2020: Uptown Art Fair | Minneapolis
Stop by the Family Imagination Station hosted by Northern Clay Center.

TBA: Fiesta Latina | CLUES St Paul
A family-friendly community festival celebrating Latin culture through arts, health & wellness, fitness, food and entertainment. 11am-4pm. (Aug 10, 2019)

TBA: IndiaFest | Minnesota State Capitol
Experience India in a day, parade, live music, children’s activities. 11am-9pm. (Aug 10, 2019)

Aug 9, 2020: Pioneer Day | Pioneer Memorial Park, Newport
Parade (11am), live music, inflatables and a balloon artist. 11am-7pm.

August 15-16, 2020: Vadnais Heights Heritage Days
Kids games, bounce house and watermelon-eating contest, kiddie parade, and the Grande Parade.

Aug 16, 2020: Como Park Japanese Obon Festival (Lantern Festival) | Como Park Conservatory, St Paul  Traditional music, dance, taiko drumming, and lantern lighting at dusk. $3-5/pp, under 3 FREE.

Aug 21-23, 2020: North Hudson Pepper Fest | North Hudson, WI
Rides, games, Grand Parade. $2-$3/button for events.

Aug 21-23, 2020: Woodbury Days | Ojibway Park, Woodbury
Buttons required for many events ($5/pp or $15/4-pack – children’s coin hunts, workshops and art activities), petting zoo, magic shows and Grande Parade.

Aug 22, 2020: St Paul Food Truck Festival | Mears Park
Music, games & giveaways. Noon-10pm, FREE admission, food available to purchase.

Aug 22-Oct 4, 2020: Minnesota Renaissance Festival | Shakopee
Explore the Fairy Wing Forest and Mermaid Cove, take in a maypole dance, craft a wand or pirate hat, learn to juggle and much more. Open weekends 9am-7pm | $13.50-$24.95.

Aug 27-30, 2020: Stiftungsfest | Norwood Young America
Carnival, market, escape room ($20), and music.

Aug 27-Sept 7, 2020: Minnesota State Fair | Falcon Heights
