After our long winter’s rest, the Twin Cities is awake with a full lineup of spring family festivals and events! You can get started planning those beautiful weekends in May right here:

5/5-5/7: Festival of Nations | RiverCenter, St Paul | $8-$11/pp in advance, under 6 FREE | Family highlights: Authentic performances, cuisine, demos & exhibits from 40 different cultures.

5/6: Union Depot’s Train Day | Union Depot, St Paul | Family highlights: Transportation-inspired activities, equipment, and musical entertainment. FREE.

5/6: Arbor Day Walk & Green Fair | Staring Lake Park, Eden Prairie | 9am-12pm | Family highlights: Family activities plus take home a seedling to plant. FREE.

5/6: Cinco de Mayo | West Side of St Paul | 9am-6pm | Family highlights: A full day of events celebrating the vibrant and diverse District del Sol neighborhood. FREE.

We are MayDay!5/7: May Day Parade & Festival | Powderhorn Park, Minneapolis | Family highlights: Catch the May Day Parade with festival to follow in the park. FREE.

5/12-14-: Shepherd’s Harvest Sheep & Wool Festival | Washington County Fairgrounds, Stillwater • 9am-5pm Sat, 10am-4pm Sun • $5/pp ages 9+, under 9 FREE • Family highlights: Competitions, sheep shearing demos and animal encounters.

5/19-21: Art-A-Whirl | Northeast Minneapolis | Fri 5-10pm, Sat 12-8pm, Sun 12-5pm | Family highlights:  Many studios offer hands-on activities that interest all ages. A listing of Art-A-Whirl family offerings can be found here. FREE.

5/18-20: West St. Paul Days | West St. Paul | Friday 3:00-11:00pm; Saturday 11:00am-11:00pm; Sunday Noon-6:00pm | Family highlights:  Carnival ($20 unlimited rides); Street Dance, Parade. FREE.


Good Kids

We are excited to partner with Good Kids in May.  They are bringing FFTC BookHounds to life this summer.


5/20: Hopkins Mainstreet Day | Hopkins | 9am-4pm, FREE admission.

5/20: Blaine World Fest | Blaine | 1-4pm | Family highlights: Cultural learning booths, and ethnic food vendors and food trucks. Rain or Shine.

5/20: Arts in the Park | Purgatory Creek Park, Eden Prairie | 9am-4pm | Family highlights: Local craft vendors plus music and entertainment just for kids. FREE admission.

5/21: Holz Farm Spring Festival | Holz Farm Park, Eagan | 11am-4pm | Family highlights: Old-fashioned farm activities. Small fee for some games & food.

5/22: Art Start’s EcoArts Fest | Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Bloomington | 10am-3pm

5/28: Immigrant for a Day | Gammelgarden Museum, Scandia | 1-4pm | Family highlights: 1850’s immigrant family activities and tours. FREE admission.

5/29: Memorial Day at Lakewood Cemetery | Minneapolis | 10:30am-3pm | Family highlights: Live music, refreshments, trolley tours, horse-drawn carriage rides and art activities for kids. FREE.
