Possible Name Change
MPRB may also explore a possible name change for the park. Henry Sibley is one of those problematic historical icons that the Twin Cities has named so many places and things after. He was the first governor of our state and held other political offices. He also oversaw the mass execution of 38 Dakotas after the Dakota War in 1862. According to MPR, "It was the largest mass execution in U.S. history."
MPRB will be looking for community feedback and opinions on both the updates and on the possible name change and making final decisions based on the outcome of those surveys.
