The Highland Park Community Center is not part of Highland Park as the name would suggest. It is part of Hillcrest Park (not to be confused with Hillcrest Knoll Park). It is named for the Highland Park neighborhood in St Paul and the Highland Park Library, with which it shares space. Families will find that this expanded community center offers an outdoor playground and an expanded indoor children’s area, a story time room and a reading garden and public art. This community center offers Tot Times and Open Gym for kids and families. Adults can join the fitness center at this location. This recreation center has been part of the Saint Paul Parks Free Summer Meals for kids program. For more information, call 651-292-6508. Summer meals run from mid-June to mid-August. The community center has a steep slope sledding hill recommended by the parks department. Sledding at St. Paul Parks is free. The city offers suggestions for safe sledding on its sledding hills web page. This playground was updated in 2018 and 2019. The new play equipment consists of a tot lot and a climbing structures for for bigger kids, a swing set and a spin ball. The playground has a sand floor. Families will also find a nearby reading garden and a couple soccer and softball fields. As with most St. Paul Recreational Centers Highland Park has several rooms available for private use, including a gym that could be used for a sporty birthday party gathering. Other rooms include an auditorium, craft room, kitchen and meeting rooms. Up-to-date rental information and rates can be found here.Related Articles:
