Highland Park in St Paul has two playgrounds, an outdoor water park, both a foot golf and a disc golf course and picnic space with grills. In the winter there are cross country ski trails and a sledding hill. Note: Highland Park Community Center is NOT a part of this park. It is 2 miles away and located within Hillcrest Park (but not Hillcrest Knoll park; that is a different park). Also note that the aquatic center is located kitty-corner from the rest of the park, across the intersection of Hamline (aka Edgcumbe) and Montreal. Confused? Me too. The disc golf course is free and open from sunrise to sunset. According to reviews, this is somewhat of a beginner’s course, but is well maintained. For families with small children, the beginner course would be a plus, as you won’t need to worry that you are holding up more serious players. Highland 9’s FootGolf course is open from mid March into the fall for ages 7 and up. All skill levels are welcome. Bring your own soccer ball or rent one for $3. Dress for activity, but cleats are not allowed. Nine holes costs $9/person and $5 for a second round. The Aquatic Center’s season runs from early June – Labor Day, with Open Swim times as follows: Admission is $6-$7/pp with a family rate of $24 for up to 5 people. See our Highland Park Aquatic Center entry for more details. This Park has a shelter and a pavilion that are available for rent in blocks of time in the morning or afternoon into evening. Rent starts at $70/block for the shelter and $240/block for the pavilion. The water park also has birthday party packages starting at $11/person. The hill behind the Water Tower located in Highland Park is recommended as a medium slope sledding hill. The City of St. Paul offers tips for sledding safety on its website.Disc Golf & FootGolf Highland Park
