Civic Center Park is a 60-acre park situated adjacent to Burnsville City Hall on Civic Center Parkway, just east of Nicollet Avenue, between 130th and 134th Streets. There is no playground equipment, however, this park has hard and natural trails and a public garden for families to explore together. Burnsville Skate Park, The Garage and Burnsville Ice Center are also found within this park. The park is home to a small outdoor amphitheater that hosts a summer Wednesday in the Park Concert Series. All Shows Start at 7 p.m. In case of inclement weather or to check for cancellation notices visit Burnsville’s Facebook or Twitter accounts. Following the successful goat program in Saint Paul, Burnsville approved a pilot program to bring goats into a two-acre area near the Ice Center to help control buckthorn in 2018 for a three-year prescribed grazing pilot project. Goats are great at controlling buckthorn and other woody species that take over natural areas. For more information and photos visit Burnsville’s website. Although it doesn’t offer a shelter, the picnic area at Bicentennial Garden can be rented for an affordable hourly rate. With a short walk across the park to the Burnsville Skate Park, this could be a budget-friendly option for a birthday party for an older grade school or middle school child.
