Northeast Athletic Field Park is the home of Jim Lupient Water Park. It also has sports fields, picnic areas and grills, a playground and tot lot and walking paths. MPRB is in the process of building a new “adventure course” playground adjacent to the rec center in the southwest corner of the park. The playground design was finalized during the summer and construction began in the fall 2021. Additional construction will continue during 2022 and finish by spring 2023. Work includes: The recreation center, which officially opened in March 2018, includes a full-court gym, community learning kitchen and classroom, multipurpose room, and a lobby with a ping pong and foosball table. The roof of the building has a solar power installation and the building was constructed with sustainable building practices. Rooms in the recreation center, including the kitchen and gym, are usually available to rent for private use, such as birthday parties. The water park also offers birthday party packages. The miniature golf course located within Northeast Park closed in 2019. For more mini golf options, see FFTC’s Guide to Mini Golf Courses in the Twin Cities.Related Articles
