Winter Festivals This Weekend in the Twin Cities

Sturges Park, 401 Lake Blvd S, Buffalo, MN 55313
Kites fill the sky above Buffalo Lake, kite building workshop for kids, food trucks, hot chocolate and treat vendors. Feb 12, 11am-3pm, FREE.
Norwood Park, 8100 Newton Avenue N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55429
Winterfest activities include snow art, sugar cube castles, snow fort building, a scavenger hunt, winter Storywalk, snowshoeing and ice skating. Feb 12, 1-3pm, FREE.
Chestnut Street in historic downtown Stillwater has a pedestrian winter wonderland area where our family had the free LED light show set to music all to ourselves last Friday night! Also in LOWELL PARK is the work of the work of the World Snow Sculpting Championships and a free outdoor ice skating rink. Now through March 2022, 5-10pm nightly.

Have we reached winter’s halfway point yet? Since we have another couple months of cold weather to go, we’re still big time plugging these sledding hills (free!) or snow tubing hills (not free). Most of the sledding hills on our huge list are located within city public parks. Free ice skating rinks across the Twin Cities are flooded and ready to go, too. Try one of these outdoor ice skating rinks with a pretty backdrop:

- MAPLE GROVE CENTRAL PARK ICE SKATING LOOP (free ice skating, rentals available for $7)
- ROSEVILLE OVAL ($6.50/pp, rentals $5)

Free winter fun for all ages! Try out kick-sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and more. Feb 12-13, 2022, 11am-4pm.
Three Rivers Parks locations
Drop in for free nature programs at MISSISSIPPI GATEWAY REGIONAL PARK & RICHARDSON NATURE CENTER. New themes each week. Feb 13, 2022, drop in between 1-4pm (see link for schedule). FREE admission.

Take in a puppet show followded by make-and-take nature-inspired art. Feb 13, 2022, 1-3pm.

On Snowtime Saturdays families can try out activities like ice fishing, snowshoeing, kick-sledding and cross-country skiing. Must register in advance, Feb 12, 10am-1pm. $11/family.
