Spend some time with your favorite sweethearts taking advantage of all the Valentine’s Day activities in the Twin Cities – many of them FREE or low-cost. Here are 10 ideas to get you started, including (if you stick with us til the end) a super simple cookie recipe and inspiration for crafty gifts:

Throughout February: Drop in anytime during the month and craft a homemade Valentine gift at Heartfelt (Linden Hills, Minneapolis), 10am-5pm. Projects are for a range of ages, including adults, and cost between $5-$30 each.

Select dates in February: Twin Cities Michael’s locations offer inexpensive Valentine crafts for kids.

2/3/18: Kids Workshop: Valentine Bean Bag Toss | TC Home Depot locations, 9am-12pm, FREE

2/8/18: Holiday Fun Hour: Valentine’s Session | Maplewood Community Center, 6:15-7:15pm, Music, snacks and crafts. Pre-Register by phone 651-249-2120 or online $7/child.

2/10/18: Chocolate Tasting & Gift Fair | Mississippi Market locations | 11am-2pm | FREE

2/10/18: Valentine Mailbox | TC Lakeshore Learning locations, 11am-3pm | Ages 3+ | FREE

2/10/18: Free Studio Art Day: Valentine Cards | Articulture, Minneapolis | 1-3pm | FREE

2/10/18: Valentine’s Family Fun | The Landing, Shakopee | 10-3pm | $8/pp, 2 & under free | Create Victorian-era Valentines, ride a kicksled, or try snowshoeing. Tour Eagle Creek Village and build kid-sized log cabins.

2/10/18: Love Local: MCBA Open House  | Minnesota Center for Book Arts at the Loft Literary Center, Minneapolis| 10-2pm | FREE | Artist-led Valentines-themed activities: letterpress printed postcards, handmade heart-shaped paper, pop-up cards, and more.

2/11/18: Valentine’s Day Storytime & Art Project | Kiddywampus | Best for Ages 2-6 | $3/child | All ages welcome.

2/11/18: Hearts & Hugs Memories with Mom | American Girl Store, Mall of America | Ages 8+ | $28/pp | Price includes a meal in the bistro, crafts and other souvenirs.

2/12/18: Pre-K Days: Love Bugs | Base Camp, Bloomington | $10/child ages 2-5 | Sessions include free play, circle time, games, story and a craft project – this month, come make a homemade Valentine.

2/13/18: Be Mine Storytime | Red Balloon Bookshop, St Paul | 6:30pm | Make a Valentine after storytime.

2/13/18-2/18/18: Institute of Hearts | Minneapolis Institute of Art | 10am-5pm | Pick your favorite work of art and place a paper heart in front of it.

2/14/18: For the Love of Trains | Jackson Street Roundhouse, St Paul | 10am-4pm | $11/adult, $9/child or family rates available |  Bring your train-loving sweethearts for a special morning at the roundhouse with train rides, storytime, crafts and tours.

2/17/18: Valentine’s Day Hot Metal Pour | Franconia Sculpture Park, Shafer | 12-5pm | See the website for details on pouring your own iron sculpture. Free admission, fee if creating and purchasing a sculpture.
