We don’t live far from the Anoka County Airport, and one of our favorite weekends to be outside is in June when we get to see (and hear) B-52s buzz through the sky during Discover Aviation Days. With just the 5 airplanes flying overhead, the clamor of the engines is extremely loud. We always stop and take a minute to think about Pearl Harbor and the commotion of the hundreds of planes flying overhead.
Once held each June at the Anoka County Airport, Discover Aviation Days was a FREE annual weekend event featuring aviation exhibits, aircraft and helicopter rides, flight-related activities and displays, and a pancake breakfast. The non-profit has faced logistical hurdles in recent years, including lack of a space to hold the event and need of volunteers. Follow Discover Aviation Days on Facebook for any new information.

Anytime Airplane Watching
Visit the Aircraft Viewing Area near the airport. This is a fun place to picnic on a sunny afternoon to get a closeup view of planes taking off and landing at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.
