April 6-7, 2019
For more inspiration on spending family time together this weekend, check our April Family Guide or our Family Fun Calendar.
Sat, April 6: Saturday Morning on the Farm | Gale Woods Farm, Minnetrista
Rise, shine and get down to Gale Woods this weekend for their Saturday Morning on the Farm program. Activities may vary from week to week, but you and yours should always be able to climb into the pens and coops to get up close to the animals. There is typically action in the kitchen and greenhouse as well. Read about a spring visit to the farm here. Ongoing Saturdays starting April 6, 9:30am-12pm, $5/pp.
Sun, April 7: Garden Open House | Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden & Bird Sanctuary. Sorry Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden’s Opening Day has been delayed until Monday April 8th due to snowy, icy trails. But drop in anytime after Monday to explore this beautiful garden.
Spring means the arrival of new growth, birdsong, and family rambles in the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden. Naturalists will guide you in spotting signs on the season at the annual open house, 1 & 4pm. Tours meet at the Visitor Center. Starting in April, Family Garden Hikes are offered ongoing Sundays at 4pm and Garden Storytime takes place most Saturdays. The garden is always free to explore 7 days a week.
Sat, April 6: Breakfast with the Bunnies | Rambling River Center, Farmington
Start with a light breakfast, then enjoy a bunny story, crafts and a meet with live bunnies. 9-10:30am, $6/pp. For our GIANT Easter egg hunt guide, hop on over HERE.
Sat, April 6: Music & Melody Makers | Minnesota Youth Symphonies, St Paul
This program is a wonderful way to spark interest in playing an instrument before committing to taking lessons. Kids ages 3-14 can try out instruments of the orchestra, ask the musicians questions, and hear a mini-concert. All activities are free. As attendance is limited to keep the noise down, registration is required. 9-11am. FREE.
Sat, April 6: First Free Saturday: Portrait Party | Walker Art Center, Minneapolis
A trip to the Walker Art Center can always be an interesting family outing. And educational as well, in often unexpected ways as you tour the galleries together and talk about the art. Walker does its best to make the museum at its kid-friendliest during First Free Saturdays, where there are typically art-making activities, kid cinema and the like. If the weather is in a friendly mood, take a walk through the revamped Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. 10am-3pm.
