The Oliver H Kelley Farm is a National Historic Landmark and is part of the Minnesota Historical Society. This farm is considered “The birthplace of organized agriculture in America.” It is maintained as a working farm and visitors can participate in the seasonal farm life including meeting the farm animals, helping with field and garden work and exploring the farmhouse.
2017 Farm Expansion
In April of 2017, the farm rolled out its expanded and enhanced facilities, which include a new visitor center, modern demonstration gardens and fields, interactive outdoor exhibits, and modern livestock and farm equipment. The new visitor center has three times more space as the previous one and includes a learning kitchen, classrooms, indoor exhibits, a museum store and updated guest amenities. A new Farm Lab area encourages visitors to explore Minnesota’s agriculture today through modern cropland, animals, gardens and an outdoor exhibit trail. Still available to explore is the original Oliver Kelley’s historic 1860s farmstead.
