Lake Josephine County Park has family friendly amenities that include a playground, an unguarded swimming beach, picnic areas, a boat launch, and fishing areas. The playground equipment is large, but standard. The playground floor is mulch. The picnic areas are not sheltered, but they are shaded.
Swimming at Lake Josephine beach
Swimming in Ramsey County parks is free of charge. Beach season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The sandy area of this beach is rather small. However, there are some shady spaces where families could camp out close to the sand. There are also strategic spots where a parent could watch both the beach and the playground.

Leashed pets are allowed at this park. However, they are not allowed on the beach or in the picnic areas and cannot be left unattended. It would be best to leave them home if you plan to spend the day at the beach and/or picnicking.
