Probably best known for its sledding hill, Keyes Park in Columbia Heights has family-friendly amenities that include a playground, sports fields and space to picnic.
Ideas for Family Fun at Keyes Park
- Run around the playground. This park has a nice double swing where a parent can push a child and a baby at the same time.
- Bring a Frisbee. There is a lot of green space to play a game of Frisbee or other yard games.
- Pack a Picnic. The park has picnic tables available for lunching while you play.
- Play a Game of Kickball on the baseball field. Bring your own playground ball.
- In the winter, take advantage of the sledding hill. Different areas of the park offer different grades from very steep to gentle.
Columbia Heights’ Favorite Sledding Hill
The sledding hill at this park is popular with both kids and parents because sledders can choose between several grades from very steep to gentle. Families can park in the parking lot at the bottom of the hill by the playground and walk up or on the street at the top of the hill. Birthday Parties at Keyes Park
The park building is available to rent for private events like birthday parties. Columbia Heights residents can also rent the Neighborhood Event Wagon, which comes with tables, chairs, and recreational items, like balls, cones, hula hoops, rackets, and other pieces.
