Founded by Michael Boyd in 1999 in Ohio, by 2002 FOCI moved to Minneapolis and in 2009 became a non-profit. The studio focuses on teaching the glass arts to the Twin Cities community, as well as mentoring up-and-coming glass blowers and at risk youth. While most offerings are geared toward adults, youth camps are offered each summer, and families can visit the studio during Art-A-Whirl in May.

Classes at FOCI

Some of FOCI’s open classes include glass demonstrations for community groups, classes in torch working, kiln casting, sand casting, fusing and neon. These classes are open to kids age 9+ with a parent.

FOCI summer camps

The studio is featured in our summer camp guide, where details are updated annually. An community exhibition is offered following the summer camp program. Camps are designed for kids ages 9-13 and are based on age, type of glass produced, and material complexity. Older teens are invited to join adult core classes.
