Chuck E Cheese is a national franchise restaurant with four Twin Cities locations. As most adults grew up with the commercials during Saturday morning cartoons, we don’t really need an introduction. We know that Chuck E. Cheese is “where a kid can be a kid.” Each restaurant centers around kids entertainment with arcade-style games (purchase a Play Pass card or Play Band at the front desk) and free fun that includes an indoor playground with climbing tubes. They also have a dance floor where a Chuck E. stops by to dance hourly. It’s a kids dream and an introvert’s nightmare. The Twin Cities locations that we have visited or heard about tend to be clean and well-kept with friendly, helpful staff.
More indoor play options: The Twin Cities are home to over 40 indoor playgrounds — small and big — splurge worthy and budget-friendly. Learn more: Twin Cities Indoor Playgrounds and Play Areas Guide.
One thing we love about Chuck E. Cheese is that kids earn tickets while playing games, which they can then trade in for merchandise prizes, like toys and candy. This is a great incentive to get them out the door when it is time to go home.
*Chuck E Cheese does not have a minimum food purchase for play at the Adventure Zone. The cheapest items on the menu are around $8. Or you could purchase a monthly play pass for $7.99 and not purchase any food. Chuck E. Cheese is notorious for over-priced, not-great food, but if you think appetizers or desserts, they are not too bad.

Find Weekday Family Meal Deals
We have a link to current specials at the bottom of this page. Many parents choose to wait until a special occasion, like a birthday party, to subject themselves and their kids to the sensory overload. I think that might be a mistake. I’m here to tell you that going for a weekday pizza isn’t horrible; the weekday experience is less chaotic than weekends.
Deals can come and go and tend to only last a limited time, so check the links before heading out, but week day deals can make a family night out affordable and fun – depending on whether your focus is dinner or play.
Birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese
Birthday party packages for a child’s birthday include a 2-hour table reservation with festive tablecloth, paper plates and utensils. You’ll get a dedicated host and two slices of pizza plus unlimited pop for the kids. The party guests also get tokens (or points) to play games, and the birthday kid gets to stand in a box and have tickets blasted at him while he scoops up as many as he can. Party prices are per per child, and prices depend on the location and on the package chosen.
Don’t forget to sign your kids up for their rewards. They get Birthday Freebies, even if you don’t book a party.
Sensory Sensitive Sundays
Participating locations open 2 hours early on the first Sunday of the month to offer a sensitive-friendly experience for kids.
