4 Ideas for Family Fun at Bredesen Park
- Walk the trails. The 2-mile paved trail is stroller friendly but you will be sharing with bikes. The Nature Trail is great for exploring with bigger kids and offers plenty of shade.
- Identify trees. Many of the native trees have interpretive signs along the way help you recognize different leaves.
- Birdwatch. This park is home to a variety of birds. Pack some Birdwatching gear and see how many differnt birds you can spot.
- Look for turtles. These reptiles are among the creatues that call the ponds at Bredesen Park their home.
Bredesen Nature Trail
A nature trail is offered for walkers (no bikes on this trail). The City of Edina has recently approved upgrades to make access to the nature trail easier for walkers. These upgrades mainly concern removal of fencing and turnstyles that that may have made it more difficult for pedestrians who were on the main walking trail to switch over to the nature trail.
Bredesen Park bike path
There is also a 2-mile bike path (with a stroller-friendly walking area and raised boardwalks) that encircles the park and has been developed as a nature study area. This path connects to the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail at the southwest corner of the park, Bikers can access the paths either via Vernon Avenue or Olinger Boulevard.
