Central Gym Park offers family friendly activities and amenities including a playground and tot lot and wading pool. You will also find space for picnics with a grill and access to restrooms and a drinking fountain. This park has a variety of sports fields and courts. Central Gym often hosts indoor family-friendly movies during the colder months. Current listings can be found on our Family Fun Calendar. A skate park was approved in the South Service Area Master Plan. When finished it will join a growing number of skate parks in the Minneapolis Parks district. During the spring and summer of 2024, MPRB is gathering community ideas and will incorporate that feedback into the final design. Construction is planned for 2025. Central Gym Park shares space with Richard R. Green School; therefore, its wading pool will opens after the close of school and closes before school begins in the fall. A new pool is on the wish list for future improvement plans to this park. This recreation center is not air-conditioned, but it does have a gymnasium and a craft room, as well as a community kitchen and meeting rooms. The lobby has a pool table for public use during open hours. Central Gym has participated in the summer meals program, providing meals to kids 18 and under while school is out.
