Cleveland Park is adjacent to the Lucy Craft Laney at Cleveland Park Community School in Minneapolis. It has family-friendly facilities including a splash pad style pool, tot lot and playground, sports fields, basketball court and picnic space. The city’s first challenge course and Bankshot court were added in 2026.
Cleveland Park Wading Pool
This park has a newer wading pool with a spray feature, like a splash pad, and a zero depth entry. Â Because of its proximity to two schools, it opens after school releases in early June and closes before school resumes in late August. During the summer months, it is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Minneapolis Parks does not provide life guards for its wading pools.
Recent Updates to Cleveland Park
The playground was most-recently replaced in 2020 and includes a large, colorful playground that encourages movement in play for bigger kids and a tot lot for smaller kids. In fall of 2026, MPRB completed updates to Cleveland Park that included full and half-size basketball courts and a small Bankshot-style court, a challenge course, an outdoor fitness aera and a multi-use playing field/green space.
The Bankshot Court
The first Bankshot court in the Minneapolis park system, this line of hoops at various heights is often described as a cross between mini golf and basketball. Perfect for playing with families of various skill levels, in Bankshot, players move through the course trying to bank their ball off the board and into the rim. Stations have varying difficulty and allow for players of different levels to stand closer or further from the hoop.
The Challenge Course
Also a first in the Minneapolis park system, a challenge course was also built in 2026. Other parks in the Twin Cities with challenge courses include: Northwest Greenway in Plymouth, Grassmann Park in Jordan and Schaper Park in Golden Valley.
