Perkins Hill Park in North Minneapolis has family-friendly amenities that include a playground and tot lot, well-kept green spaces and picnic area with a grill and a basketball court. In 2019, The Minneapolis Parks & Rec Board (“MPRB”) began the an improvement project that would add the city’s first bicycle pump track to this park. The long-awaited pump track was finished in the summer of 2022. This small park does not have a recreation center of its own, but is located about half a mile from Farview Recreation Center. If you have been hoping for a BMX park in Minneapolis, you will soon have your wish granted. A pump track is sometimes also called an “all-wheel park,” “BMX track” or “bike training course”. It features circuits of banked turns, mounds and other aspects that can be used by people by people with varying skills and abilities on bikes, skateboards and scooters. This is the first facilities of this kind in the Minneapolis park system. MPRB asks that visitors to Perkins Hill Park be safe and considerate of others when using the track.
