Farview Park is a 21-acre park tucked into North Minneapolis. Family friendly amenities include a playground, a wading pool, a large turf playing field and a recreation center. The park is known for its beautiful panoramic hilltop that is perfect for rolling down in the summer. While it is not one of Minneapolis Park & Rec’s official sledding hills, people do sled there. The parks department asks that non-official hills be used with caution (note the trees on this hill) and with respect for other park users. The wading pool historically opens Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day. The pool is free to use between the hours 10 am to 9 pm daily. There are no lifeguards on duty. This pool is one of the newer zero depth entry pools with a splash-pad like spray feature. In 2020, Minneapolis Park and Rec began building a new playground and flexible-use space. This project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2021. Farview participates in the summer meals program, offering children under 18 years old a free weekday snack and free dinner when school is out of session for the summer. Please call ahead to confirm this program. This Recreation Center is air-conditioned. Families can find a variety of camps, activities, events and field trips at this location. The park has active games, foosball and billiards available, as well as an open computer lab. The building was updated in 2020. Improvements were mostly structural and accessibility accommodations. While visiting the park, you can take a moment to check out “Purple Raindrop” by Esther Osayande, public art honoring Prince. This 15-foot metal sculpture doubles as a seating area. See the top image in this post. The Recreation Center can be rented for birthday parties and other private gatherings. See the parks website for various permit requirements and special use fees, depending on the use.Farview Park Wading Pool
