Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie is home to Eden Prairie’s Outdoor Center and Staring Lake Observatory. Ongoing Saturdays, the Outdoor Center hosts an open house with free family-friendly nature activities. Offerings include hiking, hands-on interaction with live animals, and craft projects. The Observatory is open during scheduled programs and events throughout the year.

Staring Lake Amenities
The park has family-friendly amenities that include a playground, an archery range, a disc golf course, hiking trails and sports fields and courts. In the summer, the park offers boating, space to picnic with grills and restroom facilities. There is also free family entertainment at the Staring Lake Amphitheater throughout the summer months. In the winter, the park offers sledding, cross-country skiing and ice-skating.

Archery Range at Staring Lake Park
The Archery Range is located away from the main park area on the east side of the park. It has 12 shooting stations with targets at 10, 20, 30 and 40-yard distances. The range is available for use during park hours unless it is being used for a scheduled program. Bring your own gear. Find more archery ranges around the Twin Cities.
Disc Golf at Staring Lake Park
The park has a nine-hole disc golf course that is open year round during park hours. The course is not lit, has a variety of terrain and challenge. Find a  PDF Map of the Course Here. There is a walking trail that leads to the course from the east parking lot. Find more Twin Cities disc golf courses here.
Winter at Staring Lake Park
Winter activities are weather dependent. If it is too cold or too warm, these rinks, hills and trails will be closed. Call the weather and information line at 952-949-8449, option 1 for updates. The park building is available to change into your snow gear or warm up and enjoy the lake view.
- Sledding: Visitors can find a 700-foot sledding hill on the north side of the warming house during winter months depending on snow accumulation and weather. Only plastic sleds are allowed and sledders must supply their own sleds. The warming facility is supervised and the hill is lit during open hours. Find more Twin Cities Sledding Hills.
- Skiing: Eden Prairie High School maintains cross country ski trails which may be used by park patrons. There is no charge for use of the ski trail, but the high school’s Nordic ski team uses the trails for practices and meets. Since these trails are not maintained by the State, they do not require a Minnesota Ski Pass.
- Ice Skating: The city maintains an ice rink near the warming house. Bring your own skates; rentals are not available at the outdoor rinks.

Staring Lake Dog Park
When the ski trails are not in use (March – December), they are used as an off-leash dog park. Be sure to check the rules and regulations, because among other rules, dogs must be licensed with the City of Eden Prairie. The facilities are not available for non-residents.
Birthday Parties at Staring Lake Park
The park has facilities available to Eden Prairie Residents for rent for birthday parties and other private events. Rentals includes picnic tables and an outdoor grill on the plaza for additional guests. Indoors there is a gas fireplace, fridge/freezer, tables and chairs, restrooms, drinking fountain and electrical outlets.
