Rosedale Center is the major shopping mall in Roseville, Minnesota. You’ll find the basic mall stores, restaurants and layout. Families can find quite a bit of fun — both free and paid — in this mall.  Beginning in 2017, the mall began a two-year interior renovation project. There have been some really exciting additions during that time, including a relocated and updated play area and an aquarium! I was also impressed how relaxed an atmosphere this mall maintained during the Christmas shopping season.  It felt like shopping boutiques — even when the stores were big name national brands.

Note: Shops and venues come and go at malls. We recommend verifying the place you want to visit is still at the mall before heading out. We have a link to current shops at the bottom of this article.

Little Logger’s Play Area f/k/a Northwoods Play Area

Rosedale Center’s new play area is is located on the south side of the first floor. Like the former play area, it is enclosed, which means strategically seated parents can still keep an eye on multiple children without worrying that one will escape. As before, it features the play area as well as vending and pay rides. The play area keeps the same hours as the mall. It will be open when the mall is open. As with most mall play areas, supervision is the responsibility of the parents.

Our kids have outgrown the mall play areas, but this was our go-to play area when they were smaller. We found it the most laid-back of the mall play areas – not too many hover parents but the bigger kids were usually respectful of smaller children. The kids mostly treated the pay rides like an extension of the playground, climbing on them and using their imaginations instead of coins. This seemed to be generally acceptable (except sometimes on weekends when the dads were there with their pockets full of quarters, then we would ask our kids to let the paying customers play).

Build-A-Bear Workshop

Rosedale has one of the three Twin Cities Build-A-Bear Workshop locations and the location of our review of the build-a-bear repair services. The other two are in the Mall of America. If this is something your children really want, Rosedale may be the most tame option of the three. We have shopped both locations and the customer service has always been wonderful, but we feel like the service at Rosedale has been exceptional. One associate volunteered to take home a bear we had purchased it and dye it the exact color my son had to have before we had it stuffed. Unfortunately she has moved on to other adventures, but that is an example of the type of above-and-beyond service we have come to expect at this Build-A-Bear location.

Sandbox VR
