Lochness Park is a nearly-ninety acre park in Blaine. Does Lochness Lake have its own monster? I found no proof that there isn’t one. So maybe? I think its worth checking out, but bring a fishing pole. The lake is a designated kids pond by the Minnesota DNR. Other family-friendly amenities include miles of trails, a disc golf course. This park has off-street parking at both entrances. There are port-a-potties on site.
5 Fun Things for Families at Lochness
- Pack your discs to play a round of disc golf on the 9-hole course. It’s considered challenging course. Find more disc golf courses here.
- Bring along a picnic to enjoy in one of the shelters on any of the picnic tables or green spaces around the park.
- Enjoy 2 miles of beautiful, natural trails. Follow concrete and boardwalk trails through woodland, marsh, prairie and wet meadow habitats.
- Go Fishing together
- Download the Blaine Open Spaces Passport and record your visit. This park is one of 7 parks to visit for the program.
Fishing Lochness Lake With Kids
The Minnesota DNR believes that “Youth are the future of Natural Resources,” and have created a fishing program to encourage kids to take up the sport. As part of this, it has identified Fishing in the Neighborhood (“FiN”) Ponds that it believes are ideal for beginner fishing. Lochness Lake is among these. Learn more about the program here.
According to the DNR, this lake contains Bluegill, Black Crappie, Northern Pike and Bullhead.
