Elko Speedway is advertised as the premier racing facility in the Midwest. It has been a NASCAR affiliate for over 30 years. Races are every Saturday night in the summer months. Race times are usually Saturdays from 5pm to midnight. Annual special events included Eve of Destruction, Thunderstruck and Drive In Movie nights. Also, look for special kids nights and free night each year for affordable family fun nights.
Tailgating at Elko Speedway and Drive-In
Tailgating for both the races and the films is encouraged at the speedway. Tailgating times are usually from 8-9:30pm on movie nights and 5-7pm on race nights. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the speedway, but carry-ins of alcohol are not allowed.
Elko Drive-In Movie Theater
The last drive in theater in the Twin Cities area, the Elko Drive In Theater shows first run films on Friday and Saturday nights during the summer months. Current movies can be found on the front page of the website, or on the drive-in’s Facebook page.

Important to know:
- Cash or Credit Card only
- Regulars suggest arriving early to get a spot on “Eve of Destruction” and 4th of July Nights, but otherwise, they do not sell out often. They tell us that the parking lot tends to clear out after the races, making it easier to get a spot later.
- However, in 2020, they will be operating at 50% capacity.
- Guests are welcome to tailgate, picnic and BBQ in the parking area (no carry-in alcohol)
- There are limited concessions
- Tune in to 89.1
- 1 movie is shown each night
- Movies play rain or (moon) shine
- No Pets allowed. They’re not our crowd.
Where is Elko New Market?
Not too far of a drive, Elko is approximately 45 minutes to an hour south of Minneapolis and Saint Paul; and only 10 minutes south of Burnsville.
