Ice Skating at Brookside Park

The City of Bloomington maintains both a general and a hockey rink at this location from mid-December to mid-February as weather permits. It is only open on weekends and school release days but is staffed and has floodlighting at those times.

Brookside Park Community Garden

Community garden plots are available to rent. They are located at the south end of the park near Bloomington Covenant Church. These plots tend to sell out. Return renters get priority and can reserve in January and February. In March, any remaining plots are opened up to the public (March 1st for Bloomington Residents; March 15th for anyone). These plots are not super close to the playground, but close enough that older children could go off and play when they are done helping in the garden or that a family could walk over for playtime together after working together.
