Thank you to one of our readers who alerted us that just over the border to the east you can find any number of charming Christmas experiences in Hudson, Wisconsin. From a storefront-window decorating contest in mid-November to Santa’s busy appearance schedule around town, here are the best things to do this season:
2025 Have a Hudson Holiday schedule
November 3-December 2: Find Santa scavenger hunt
Pick up your free Santa passport at participating businesses, then be on the lookout for the photo of Santa hidden throughout Hudson’s bistros and shops. Drop off the completed passport at Angel’s Pet World by December 2 at 4pm to be entered in prize drawings.
November 19: Window Decorating Contest
Entries include: Best of the Best, Most Whimsical Display, Classic Christmas, Light Up the Town & Best Restaurant. Enjoy the creativity all season.
November 28: Light Up Hudson
Santa magically illuminates Lakefront Park in Hudson, Wisconsin, with thousands of lights along the St Croix River at 7pm.
November 28-February 15: Buena Vista – a Stroll In the Park
The lights in Lakefront Park will twinkle for you to enjoy until February 15 as part of “Buena Vista – a Stroll In the Park”.
December 5: Candlelight Stroll
Take an illuminated carriage rides through Lakefront Park aglow with luminary candles set the
mood for this holiday event. Helmer Dance Studio’s Holly Doll dancers pose as live mannequins in downtown Hudson’s storefront windows. 6-8pm.
December 6: Santa & His Critters
Santa Claus will meet with families in lit-up Lakefront Park – along with such critters as sled dogs and a petting zoo. All ages are welcome to meet Santa at this free event. 12-3pm.
December 14: Visit with Santa
One more chance to meet Santa in Hudson – this time at Thorcraft Custom Kitchens (512 2nd
Street in the 2nd Street Crossing building). 12-3pm.
