Family Fun at The Selfie Co. in Albertville

The Selfie Co. is an exciting new selfie experience in Albertville. While it has some great features for podcasters, influencers and young adults parties, we were invited to explore the sets as a family. I knew instantly that my 9-year-old girly girl was going to LOVE this place. The surprise was in how much fun the whole family had – including pre-teen and teen boys, my husband and me.

I had no doubt this little diva would LOVE the Selfie Co.

What to Expect On A Visit to the Selfie Co.

Upon arrival, Selfie company owner, Samantha Pfeifer, greeted my family and gave us a quick tour of the facilities, which includes over 15 selfie stations and a recording studio (a separate package from the selfies). Each selfie station had its own lighting, props and camera holder. After that overview, we were let loose.

I quickly gave up on keeping my family together, three of the five of us were carrying our phones, so we just made sure to pair off so someone could take photos while others (mostly the two youngest ones) posed. It was crazy fun, with the emphasis on crazy. My kids were skipping from one station to the next. I couldn’t keep up, but it was okay. It turns out they are all better photographers than me.  Since we were just there for an entertaining afternoon outing, we were easily in and out in less than the full hour that we booked. If you want to get some truly spectacular family photos, you should have plenty of time to set up several scenes and take multiple photos in each booth during your hour booking.

What to Wear.

Realistically with kids, you should know your own goal before visiting the Selfie Co. In my case, we were just having a family day. I did recommend that my kids dress up, but they have their own idea of cool, and who am I to argue? I do promise you can have a good time no matter what your kids choose to wear.

On the other hand, if you are hoping for some great family photos, you could definitely make that happen. In that case, I would suggest being a little more insistent on everyone dressing up. One thing to plan for is that the selfie stations are usually quite colorful. Choosing a dark monotone for your family wardrobe theme might work best in the majority of stations.

For extra flexibility, I would recommend bringing along some easy outfit change outs — think of accessories and sweaters/jackets that can change the look of the outfit by adding or subtracting the piece without requiring a full change. The Selfie Co did have some sunglasses available, but bringing your own favorites would be a great idea.

Bring the Fun Home With an Editing Session

One of the best things about a visit to the Selfie Co. is that you don’t have to wait for your photos. You take them on your own phone and bring them home with you when you are done. I had nearly as good a time playing with my photo editor as we had taking the photos. I combined photos, flipped photos, mirrored photos. The whole family got in on the fun and we ended up with some keepers that I plan to frame

Ideas for Extra Special Visits With Kids

  1. Birthday Party. This would be a particularly ideal tween birthday idea. With the 4-pack visit, your tween could invite a handful of their closest friends for a photo session. Make it a full night with a visit to Space Aliens – just around the bend from Selfie Co.
  2. Senior Photos. This is an incredibly affordable option compared to what my parents paid for my senior photos back in the olden days.
  3. Holiday Photos. Some of the booths change out for different holidays. We had a Valentines Day booth. Call and ask what they may have available for other holidays.
  4. Family Fun Day. This was our reasoning and, in my opinion, is the best reason. I’ve found that happy photos make happy memories and happy memories make happy families. Go have fun. Take a lot of photos. Keep the best.

We had a great family fun day at The Selfie Co. We would love to hear about your visit. Leave us a comment and share your favorite photos! Don’t forget to use our exclusive discount code FFTC.
