Northside STEM is a science, technology, engineering and math organization that was created to “empower students of color by providing hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs, activities and education that inspire and prepare them to be workers of today, tomorrow and the future.” The program was created for children in North Minneapolis and surrounding communities and has several partner organizations within the community. STEM Saturdays are one of several kid-friendly offerings from Northside STEM. This FREE monthly event is aimed at kids aged 6 to 16 and offers participants a chance to try Science, Technology, Engineering and Math activities. Monthly themes have included agriculture, robotics, cybersecurity, solar energy, sound, the human circulatory system and other STEM-focused topics. Participation is FREE but registration through EventBrite is required. Besides the STEM Saturdays, the program offers internships and other opportunities for teens with Best Buy and a Mobile innovation lab called “The Beast”. Related Articles:
