10 Ideas for Family Field Day at Freeman Park

This park is perfect for Field Day games. Make sure their aren’t any big tournaments scheduled, then pack a picnic (the park has grills if you want it hot) and all your gear and enjoy a day of friendly family competitions:

  1. Warm up by running the bases on the baseball diamond.
  2. Bean Bag Toss. Bring your corn-hole set if you have one or just bring beanie babies and plastic hoops to aim at.
  3. Cup Stacking. While you are picnicking, see who can stack the plastic cups the highest or whose stack can stay up the longest.
  4. Obstacle Course. Use both playgrounds to create an obstacle course and see who can complete it fastest.
  5. Field Races. Stage a variety of races on one of the six soccer fields. We have some fun race ideas in our outdoor games article.
  6. Water Balloon Toss. Every good field day needs a water balloon toss, bring a tub of water balloons and have at it.
  7. Tug of War. Another must-do game for family field day. Bring a rope for tug of war.
  8. Limbo. After tug of war is done, use the rope to play Limbo!
  9. Hula Hooping. Make it competitive or not, but then use the hula hoops to make a giant ring toss game.
  10. Wind down with a walk through the park’s wooded trail.
