The Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center has family-friendly amenities that include a walking track, pickleball court, ice arena, fitness center and gymnasium. Outdoors, it has a sunfish pond and a pavilion where it hosts community concerts and other events. The center shares a roof with the Brooklyn Park Armory.

Brooklyn Park Sunfish Pond

In an effort to promote a lifelong love of fishing for kids and families, Brooklyn Park maintains a sunfish pond at the Community Activity Center. Named a Kids Fishing Pond by the Minnesota DNR’s Fishing in the Neighborhood program, this pond is considered ideal for beginners. It is stocked with Bluegill sunfish and Yellow Perch. Fishing is allowed spring through fall from 7am to 9pm. Fish from the pier or the shoreline deck. Anyone 16 or older requires a fishing license. This is not a swimming pond.

Brooklyn Park Skate Park

The city’s skate park is located at the CAC. It is free and available to use between 8am and sunset. The skate park has ramps and rails made of high-grade weather-resistant materials on about 6,000 sq. feet of concrete surface that can challenge skaters of various skill levels.

Free Walking Track

The facility has a 630-foot indoor walking track that circles above the ice arena that is free and open for public use during building hours. Running is not allowed on this track. To walk a mile, you need to circle the track 8¼ times.

Brooklyn Park Community Center Ice Arena

Brooklyn Park Ice Arena is actually two separate ice arenas connected by an upper level warming area that can be reserved for private events and birthday parties. The arenas are home to several school and community teams and schedules are dependent on these teams. The Ice Arena is connected to the Community Activity Center and gymnasium, where groups can schedule dry land workouts.

Open skate hours change from month to month based on reserved ice time and openings. The current and upcoming month’s schedules can be found here. Look for special open skate times on school release days and holidays.

Open Skate Fees

Open skate fees in 2020 are listed below:

  • $4.00/Adults (Age 19-54)
  • $3.00/Kids and Seniors
