Hidden below the rumbling of the trucks on Shepard Road in St Paul, Crosby Farm Regional Park is a peaceful retreat along the bank of the Mississippi River. The park has family-friendly amenities that include grills, a fire pit and space for for picnicking, trails for biking or hiking, and areas for fishing. There is a large picnic shelter and restrooms. The park offers almost 7 miles of paved trails through shady, wooded bottom lands next to the and along the marshes of Crosby Lake. There are scenic picnic areas available for rest stops.

Note that there are two entrances to Crosby Farm Park. At the north end, if arriving by car, there is only a parking lot turn-around for those who want to hike along Crosby Lake. The south entrance allows you to drive all the way down into the river bottoms to the parking lot at the shelter. This is the preferred entrance if you want to hike the easy trails with kids and get close to the river.

River Learning Center
In January of 2022, the City of St. Paul and the Great River Passage Conservancy announced that they had selected a team to design the River Learning Center at Crosby Farm Regional Park in St. Paul. When finished, this will be a mixed-use, river-focused space and a National Park Service Headquarters. It will serve as a national gateway to the Mississippi River with year-round river learning and outdoor recreation experiences that promote good stewardship and teach and honor the history, ecology and cultural significance of the river. The projected completion date is sometime in 2027 or later. Learn more about the coming Mississippi River Learning Center
