Twin Cities Vacation Bible School Opportunities

Kids writing in journals in an open field "Vacation Bible School"

If you are looking for a VBS program in the Twin Cities area where your kids can learn a little scripture, form lasting friendships, and have new adventures, we have gathered some options. Usually more affordable than traditional summer camps, these summer programs can be great resources for parents looking for kids activities for their K-5th grade students. Some churches also offer VBS family events and teen/tween programs. We recommend registering early because some programs have registration deadlines and/or sell out quickly.

The Right VBS Program for Your Family

Choosing the right VBS program for your child is a very personal choice. We’ve included a selection from a variety of Christian denominations. Other factors to take into consideration include:

  • Your budget. Some of the offerings below are FREE while others charge enough to cover costs. If cost is an issue, ask about scholarships. They aren’t always advertised but often available.
  • The child’s personality. My introverted child prefers quiet, art based programs, while my extrovert enjoys a more energetic program.
  • Family Schedule. Most VBS programs are offered weekday mornings for a one-week stretch. However, we have a few that are offered evenings and even weekends. Some programs offer extended care for an additional fee.

What to Expect at VBS

While each Vacation Bible School program is unique, we tend to see commanalities through all the programs. In fact, you’ll see that many parishes use the same pre-made programs. Expect age-appropriate religious education, including bible verses and theology. These concepts are re-inforced through fun activities, like art projects, music and active (sometimes outdoor) fun. Most programs also offer a snack.

Do You Have a VBS Submission?

Leave us a message and share your finds and experiences. We would love to hear from both parents and church communities with your personal VBS recommendations. I’ll continue to add new finds and submissions throughout the summer.

    1. Thank you, Eleven. Because these are mainly volunteer run programs, we usually have enough information to update VBS programs in late April or May and programs continue to trickle in through the summer. So check back regularly.

  4. I’m so glad you shared this information! My family is looking for a fun and engaging VBS program for our kids this summer and I’ve been struggling to find one that fits our schedule. Can you please provide more details about the programs you mentioned? Specifically, what are the dates and times for each program? Thanks in advance!

    1. I’m glad you are finding it helpful. Dates and times are listed on each VBS program’s entry and we have the entries listed in chronological order – earliest camps first.

Great post! I’m thrilled to hear about all the Vacation Bible School programs available in the Twin Cities this summer. I’m particularly interested in the program at St. Mary’s Church, as I have a friend who has been going there for years and raves about how much their kids learn and have fun. I’ll definitely be checking it out with my own kids. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Exciting! Let us know how they like their VBS program. This page is built on testimonials from parents. Also, we are not currently aware of a St. Mary’s that is offering VBS, so please share more information with our Catholic readers. We would love to have more options.

    1. Thanks for checking in Bobbi. We will have a 2023 list, but most VBS programs are run by volunteers and do not get announced until close to the event. Check back in late May or early June for an up-to-date list. In the meantime, follow the links for the 2022 events because the same churches will likely have similar programs at around the same time each year.

I clicked on the 2022 links and found the 2023 programs on the websites of some of the churches. They may not have ‘put it out there yet’ but for quite a few I was able to navigate to their 2023 offerings by clicking the 2022 links.

    1. Hi Candi. Feel free to share your Western Wisconsin VBS programs in the comments. If they are not too far from the Twin Cities, we’ll add them to the main list.
