Steve Michaud Park in Lakeville offers family-friendly amenities that include a playground, bike and walking trails, and sports courts and fields. There is space to picnic and restrooms available at this park. This park is one of those hidden gems that Lakeville should really brag about more – particularly its playground, the Land of Amazement. Lakeville has named the playground at this park the “Land of Amazement”. It is one of the cooler playgrounds in the Twin Cities with equipment that is designed to inspire imaginative Play. Tireless Tots wrote a really good review in 2014 with great pictures. However the 24-year-old playground was updated in 2016 to the Land of Amazement 2.0. While the City of Lakeville chose to remain true to the original playground, the new equipment uses more of what we would consider “standard” playground equipment. Gone are the recycled tires but the equipment reminds me of the playground at Franconia. The video below shows the new equipment as its built in a time lapse video. You can skip to the end if you just want to see what the final playground looks like. This park has an indoor meeting area that is available to rent for birthday parties and other private events. To make a reservation, call the Lakeville Parks & Recreation Department at 952-985-4600.
