Located along the Mississippi, Riverside Park in Minneapolis was updated in 2025. Of the smaller parks making up Mississippi Gorge Regional Park, Riverside Park is the only traditional park with a playground and other recreational amenities. These include a sandy playground with tot lot, a wading pool, space to picnic with a grill and sports courts and fields. You will find drinking water and restrooms at this park. Riverside Park is nearly 30 acres and is located in Cedar Riverside neighborhood.
5 Ideas for family fun at Riverside Park
- Run, climb, slide and play on the updated playground & nature play area
- Cool off in the wading pool (between Memorial Day and Labor Day)
- Pack a picnic. The park has a picnic shelter and scattered picnic benches, as well as plenty of green space to spread a blanket.
- Hang out in a hammock. The park has a hammock hangout in “the clearing” (near the steps down to Annie Young Meadow on the riverfront)
- Explore along the river and enjoy new native plantings, including trees, rain gardens, prairie plantings and other landscaped areas.
