Peavey Field Park is located just south of downtown Minneapolis. It has family-friendly amenities that include a recently-renovated playground and tot lot, a wading pool, walking paths and space for picnics with a drinking fountain and restrooms. There are also sports courts and fields throughout this park.
After nearly two years of construction, the Eastern half of the park reopened in May of 2019. Improvements included a new playground with resilient surfacing (image below) and central path through the park, a new picnic pavilion, three new full basketball courts with lighting, fencing and paths around the courts, a lighted multi-use field and some regrading.

Peavey Field Park wading pool
This park is adjacent to Hope Academy, so the wading pool opens after the close of school in the spring and closes before the start of classes in the fall. Minneapolis wading pools are open between 10 am and 9 pm daily unless the temperature is above 85 degrees at 6 p.m., then they will remain open until 10 p.m. There are no lifeguards at Minneapolis wading pools.
Pools occasionally need to be closed; and it is a good idea to check closings before heading out. If you find your park of choice, closed, you can find a list of additional Twin Cities wading pools and splash pads in our article, Splash Happy: Twin Cities Guide to Beaches, Pools, Water Parks & Splash Pads.
Peavey Field Park Recreation Center
The recreation center has public spaces that include a Community Kitchen, a Craft Room, a Gymnasium and meeting/multi-purpose rooms. This is not an air-conditioned recreation center. We have gathered a list of free air-conditioned spaces here.
Birthday parties at Peavey Field Park
