Painter Park and Recreation Center are located right off Lyndale Avenue in Southwest Minneapolis. Family friendly amenities include a playground with a tot lot, a Little Free Library and sports courts and fields. This park also has restroom facilities and a drinking fountain.
Painter Recreation Center
The recreation center has a family game room, a community kitchen, a craft room, a meeting room and a multipurpose room. The building was updated over the winter of 2018-19 and reopened in April 2019. The most significant update was the addition of air conditioning, offering another cool option for hot summer days.. Other updates included some remodeling of the lobby and reception desk, better lighting, and updates to ADA-compliant accessibility.
Birthday parties at Painter Park
MPRB rec centers are available to be rented for birthday parties and other private events. Find the permit requirements and special use fees here.
Painter Skate Park
2024 updates of Painter Park include a skate park, more gathering spaces and walking paths and updates to the tennis and basketball courts. MPRB also added native plantings around the park and managed stormwater runoff.
