About the Minnesota Museum of American Art

The M was founded as the St. Paul School of Fine Arts in 1894, and formally incorporated in 1927, when it began collecting works of art for instructional purposes. From the 1950s on, under the name Saint Paul Art Center, it pursued an avid program of exhibitions—including biennials of drawings, craft, and contemporary art—and assembled an esteemed collection of paintings, work on paper, sculpture, and craft. After closing for rebuilding, The M re-opened in December of 2018 in its expanded new space.

Getting to and Parking at the M

If you plan to take the light rail, you can take the Green Line to Central Station, which is just a block from the museum.

If you are driving, note that you will need to find public parking as the museum does not its own parking lot. Go here to find a list of ramps nearby.
