Marydale Park is located on the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Dale Street in St. Paul and encompasses Loeb Lake. This quiet, 24-acre neighborhood park has family-friendly amenities that include a playground with tot lot, trails, space for picnics and grilling. There is a fishing pier and restroom facilities at this park. The park was acquired in 1969, so many of the trees are mature and provide decent shade.

Sepak Takraw Courts at Marydale Park

Marydale holds two of of the five Sepak Takraw courts in St. Paul. This traditional Southeast Asian sport is described as a hybrid of soccer and volleyball. The City of St. Paul has installed these permanent courts with the intention that they will be used by the surrounding community for years to come. We found this video to give an overview of the sport. Find more information on Septak Takraw on this Youtube page.

Updates to the Park

Construction on the existing play area and other portions of the park began in the summer of 2018 with installation of ADA accessible playground equipment and resilient ground surfacing to follow. The parking lot, stairs, walkways and restroom facilities were also being updated.

Fishing at Marydale Park

The fact that Marydale Park was the site of a hazardous chemical and waste disposal site up through the 1960s, makes it less than enticing on the surface. However, pollution levels are monitored and actually very low. The Minnesota DNR has designated this pond a “children’s fishing pond” and stocks it with Bluegill, Black Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Northern Pike, Walleye and Bullhead.
