Located on the Dakota County Fairgrounds, Dakota City Heritage Village is a living history museum and five-acre village that includes 22 buildings dating to the early 1900s. Visitors have the opportunity to experience Minnesota’s rural past with costumed interpreters and demonstrations.
Dakota City Heritage Village Museum
Ahlberg Heritage Center, the onsite museum, offers an opportunity for families to explore deeper. It contains over 10,000 artifacts from the time period.
Public events at Dakota City
While the village is not regularly open to the public, it hosts events throughout the year that help visitors learn about rural life in the previous century. During these events, visitors can learn how residents lived and obtained the necessary food, clothing and shelter; how they interacted socially.
Birthday parties at Dakota City
While birthday parties have been a historic offering, currently Dakota City does not any party packages advertised. However, you may be able to book a private tour by calling the park office:Â 651 460-8050.
