Winter SKOLstice at Viking Lakes, Eagan, is a collective celebration of the season of ice and snow in Minnesota. Find here a hub of both chilly and cozy entertainment: free outdoor ice skating, hockey, an ice maze and drive-thru holiday lights display alongside a comfortable Warming Haus with hot drinks, snacks, live music and other pastimes. The winter festival is held on the site of the Minnesota Vikings training facility. See the link for all the extra details and special event schedule! Full event runs November 21, 2025-February 21, 2026. CLOSED: January 4-15. Warming house & rink open Wed-Sun, opening time varies depending on special events scheduled – see link.

Activities at Winter SKOLstice, Viking Lakes
The public is invited out this winter to take part in a lineup of activities at Viking Lakes’ Winter SKOLstice. The free outdoor ice skating rink is open Wed-Sun (except during the closure from January 4-15) and perfect for families with kids and leisure skaters. It is located mere steps from a roomy and cozy Warming Haus complete with snacks and beverages, live music and free games for all ages. The Mauer Chevrolet Ponds host are available to rent for hockey, curling and group open skating. And Viking Lakes is home again this year to the Viking Lakes Ice Festival with an exciting ice maze, ice slides, igloos and a scavenger hunt. Daily open ice skating – please see daily times.
Fun free extras at the Xfinity Terrasse include a communal bonfire, a holiday lights display and igloo shelters with seating.
Magic of Lights
Magic of Lights at Viking Lakes is a drive-through holiday light experience featuring a glitzy Holiday Barbie display, prehistoric dinos and a giant lit monster truck. Runs November 21, 2025-January 3, 2026. Starting at 5:30pm nightly. Tickets: $31-$36 per vehicle.
Viking Lakes Ice Festival
A separate ticket is required for the Viking Lakes Ice Festival – entry into the world’s largest ice maze with its own activities, warming spaces, food trucks and ice bar. This Minnesota ice event is appropriate for all ages! January 16-25, 2026, Tickets per person: $8/weekdays, $13/weekends. Kids 5 & under are free.
