Appetite for Change is a local, community-led initiative with a goal to change eating habits of the community through urban agriculture, workshops and training. They use food as a tool to build health, wealth, and social change in North Minneapolis as well as strengthen families, create economic prosperity, and encourages healthy living. Visit Appetite for Change during the 2021 Co-Op Farm Tour. They have community plots throughout North Minneapolis. There motto is: We grow food, families, leaders and community To paraphrase one of the artists in the video below, guns and violence will always be a concern, but food choices can also be dangerous. It is often harder to find healthy food choices on a budget, especially in the city where gardens are less accessible. This organization addresses these issues by teaching children to grow healthy food in an urban environment and to also to prepare it so they will eat it. The program offers community events that can be attended by the whole family, such as the Community Cooks Program, as well as a recipe resource for a little healthy family fun at home.
