The Roseville Skating Center is a community facility with both an indoor ice arena and an outdoor skate park. The indoor arena is North America’s largest sheet of refrigerated ice. Family offerings include skating lessons, public skating, open hockey, speed skating lessons, both boys and girls hockey teams, and other skating activities. Public skating times vary by season and availability. Concessions are available at some events.
Things to Do with Kids at John Rose MN OVAL
Winter season – ice skating
The John Rose MN OVAL is an outdoor recreation facility and is ranked among the Top 10 Best Ice Rinks in the U.S. Outdoor ice is maintained from November to March and the trees surrounding the rink are decorated and lit throughout the season. Look for open skating times, including ice skate rentals and skate sharpening services during these cold months. Note that the OVAL closes when the wind-chill is -25 degrees or lower.
Summer season – inline skating & movies
From May through September, the OVAL is open for inline skating and the city sometimes shows dusk outdoor movies. Find movie times annually in our Guide to Free and Cheap Summer Movies Both of these activities are FREE.
Roseville OVAL Walking Track
Families can take advantage of the free indoor walking track with a rubber surface that circles the indoor ice arena and equals one-seventh of a mile. Use of the walking track is FREE during open walking hours. Hours can vary with availability but are usually all day.
Roseville Ice ArenaÂ
The Roseville Ice Arena is the indoor rink portion of the skating center. It is open year round for ice for hockey, figure skating, skating lessons, and general public skating. There is also a walking track surrounding the 2000-capacity spectator area. The arena provides locker rooms.
Birthday parties at Roseville Skate Center
The Roseville Skating Center has banquet rooms available for rent for private events, like birthday parties. Caterers are required for any food served.
